Best Arma 3 Insurgency Missions and Maps for Your Server

Antistasi Community is the best turnkey Arma 3 insurgency choice; KP Liberation suits larger combined-arms groups, while ALiVE is for mission makers who want a custom persistent battlefield.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a ready-to-run insurgency campaign, start with Antistasi Community. It gives a small resistance force a persistent, whole-map war built around infantry, guerrilla tactics, territorial control and gradual resource growth. Choose KP Liberation instead when your group wants a larger combined-arms operation with commanders, logistics, forward operating bases and documented co-op for up to 34 players. Choose an ALiVE-based mission only if your server team is prepared to configure and maintain a dynamic battlefield rather than install one finished campaign.

When you are ready to run one of these campaigns on a hosted Arma 3 server, Godlike.Host’s Arma 3 hosting provides a game panel with mod installation and updates, SFTP/FTP access, backups and 24/7 support for managing the mission and its dependencies.

Quick comparison: which insurgency mission fits your server?

These projects all support asymmetric warfare, but they ask different things of players and administrators. The most important distinction is whether you want to play a finished resistance campaign, a structured liberation war, or build your own operational framework.

Option Core experience Persistence and progression Scale and command Server-team workload Best fit
Antistasi Community Under-equipped resistance fighting an occupying and invading force across an entire map Persistent destruction, vehicles, garrisons and statistical saves; players accumulate money, equipment and human resources Infantry and guerrilla tactics with optional AI recruitment and training Low to moderate once the compatible mission, map and mod set are selected Groups that want a long-running insurgency in which every captured position and vehicle matters
KP Liberation Combined-arms campaign to liberate major cities through coordinated operations Campaigns can span weeks of real time; server-side saving, resources, production and FOB development drive progression Documented co-op for up to 34 players, with commander planning, logistics and recruitable AI Moderate; map and faction presets determine dependencies and configuration work Larger communities that want a war-room structure, logistics and a clear operational chain
ALiVE-backed mission A configurable dynamic battlefield with insurgent behavior, command, combat support and logistics modules Persistence and campaign behavior depend on the mission maker’s module setup Designed for realistic operations up to company level, with systems assembled by the scenario author High; the server team must build, test and maintain the scenario Experienced mission makers who want to tune the population, factions, intelligence and insurgent threats

No authoritative source establishes that one terrain is objectively best for frame rate, RAM use or server tick rate. Treat performance as a compatibility and testing question for your exact mission version, mod list, player count and hardware rather than as a property you can assume from a map name.

Antistasi Community: the strongest turnkey insurgency choice

How the campaign plays

Antistasi is a Capture the Island-style mission in which a rebellion attempts to take a map back from occupying and invading forces. You begin with minor assets rather than a conventional army. Early operations revolve around finding equipment, looting supplies, building a cash reserve and recruiting enough human resources to expand the resistance.

As the campaign develops, players can hire or train AI to attack objectives, complete tasks or defend captured positions. That creates a recognizable insurgency loop: conduct a small raid, recover weapons or money, establish a safer foothold, and use the new resources to challenge a better-equipped enemy. The map remains relevant because control, garrisons and destruction persist rather than resetting after every session.

Why persistence changes the server experience

The project describes itself as a persistent whole-map multiplayer co-op focused on resistance, infantry and guerrilla tactics. Its documented features include persistent destruction, vehicles and garrisons, under-cover approaches and a persistent statistical save system. A damaged or abandoned asset can therefore affect later operations, and a captured location can become a defensive responsibility instead of a one-session victory.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This model suits groups that enjoy gradual progression and improvisation. It is less suitable if your players expect every mission to provide a full conventional arsenal or a tightly scripted sequence of set pieces. Antistasi’s tension comes from making limited resources and asymmetric tactics work.

Maps and faction templates

The Antistasi faction and template guide lists Altis, Kunduz, Malden, Anizay, Takistan, Sahrani and Kujari among its arid-map options. Templates are adapted to climate and to the mods loaded by the server, so a map name alone does not tell you the complete faction experience. Settlement layout, available equipment and the chosen mod set all influence how the resistance develops.

When selecting one of these terrains, confirm that the exact Antistasi Community mission version supports it and that every required terrain and faction mod is available to both the dedicated server and every client. A community port can be playable in principle while still failing because the server and clients have different Workshop items or versions.

Antistasi setup sequence

  1. Choose a compatible terrain. Use the project’s current map and faction/template documentation rather than assuming that any island will work.
  2. Select the Antistasi Community mission. The beginner guidance treats the map and mission choice as separate selections; verify that the mission variant matches the terrain.
  3. Install the Antistasi mod on the dedicated server. A dedicated host must load the project as part of its server mod set.
  4. Match the client loadout. Every player must load the same Antistasi mod as the host, along with the same terrain and faction dependencies.
  5. Run a small acceptance test. Have two or three players join, save, disconnect and reconnect, then confirm that vehicles, garrisons and statistics persist before announcing the campaign to the whole group.

The last test is operational advice rather than a claim about a particular hardware requirement: persistence errors are easier to diagnose with a small group than after a full public launch.

KP Liberation: a structured combined-arms war for larger groups

Campaign systems

KP Liberation frames the conflict as a persistent campaign to liberate major cities over several weeks of real time. Instead of centering almost entirely on a small resistance cell, it layers conventional operational planning onto the map. The documented systems include a commander role, planning and production, logistics, recruitable AI, resource-based purchasing, forward operating base construction, adaptive hostile forces and secondary objectives.

That combination makes the campaign feel like a running military operation. A commander can set priorities, while other players move supplies, establish FOBs, recruit AI and execute attacks. Resources connect those activities: the group must decide whether to spend on equipment, vehicles, construction or additional manpower.

Player scale and organization

The project README documents co-op for up to 34 players. That is a stated cooperation limit, not a promise that every 34-player server will perform identically. Mission complexity, AI counts, terrain density, scripts, mod dependencies and host hardware still affect the practical experience.

KP Liberation is therefore a natural fit for communities that can sustain several roles at once. A small squad can play it, but the commander, logistics and FOB layers become more valuable as the group grows. If your regular attendance is only a handful of players, Antistasi’s lighter resistance structure may produce less downtime and fewer unfilled responsibilities.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Map and mod dependencies

The KP Liberation README distinguishes custom-map play from prepacked mission files. Its configuration can support a map with no mods beyond the terrain when the custom preset is used. The documentation lists Altis as an example requiring no additional mods in that setup.

Prepacked missions can require terrain and faction packages. The documented examples include CUP Terrains and RHS for Al Rayak and Chernarus. Those names describe dependencies for particular mission packages, not a universal requirement for every KP Liberation map. Before deployment, record the exact mission file, terrain Workshop item, faction packages and versions in one server manifest and give clients the same list.

KP Liberation deployment sequence

  1. Decide between a custom preset and a prepacked mission. A custom preset can minimize dependencies; a prepacked file may provide a ready-made terrain and faction configuration but require additional packages.
  2. Start with a known baseline. Altis is the documented example with no additional mods in the README’s custom-map context, making it a practical first validation environment.
  3. Verify every dependency. For a terrain such as Al Rayak or Chernarus, check whether the selected package calls for CUP Terrains, RHS or another stated faction/terrain component.
  4. Load the mission on the server and test persistence. Build an FOB, purchase or recruit an asset, save, restart the mission and confirm that the campaign state returns.
  5. Test the command and logistics loop. Have one player use commander functions, another move supplies and a third capture an objective. This reveals configuration problems that a solo launch will miss.
  6. Publish the exact mod list to players. Include the mission version and terrain item, not only a broad collection name, so clients do not join with a mismatched package.

ALiVE-backed insurgency: when you should build instead of install

What the framework provides

ALiVE is described by its wiki as a dynamic persistent battlefield framework for Arma 3. It provides modular command, combat support, service support and logistics for realistic operations up to company level. Unlike a fixed campaign download, it gives a mission maker building blocks that can be combined around a chosen population, faction set, operational area and support structure.

This approach is useful when your group has a specific concept that neither Antistasi nor KP Liberation models directly. You can tune the density of civilians and combatants, decide how intelligence is collected, and assemble the operational systems around your own objectives. The trade-off is that those choices become your maintenance responsibility.

Insurgency mechanics demonstrated by Battle of FATA

A Bohemia Interactive forum scenario called Battle of FATA, published on October 11, 2016, demonstrates how an ALiVE insurgency can add suicide bombers, improvised explosive devices, vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and intelligence gathered from dead bodies. The scenario page warns that the mission should be locally hosted. That warning is important: an ALiVE mission’s hosting requirements are scenario-specific and should not be generalized to every ALiVE configuration.

Workload and maintenance

  • Design work: You must configure modules, factions, objectives, support and persistence to produce the intended campaign.
  • Compatibility work: Every terrain, faction and script dependency must be tested on the server and clients.
  • Balance work: Insurgent threats such as IEDs and suicide attacks need testing so they create uncertainty without making ordinary movement impossible.
  • Operational work: A framework mission may require local hosting or other scenario-specific procedures, so read its own documentation before moving it to a dedicated server.

Choose ALiVE when building the battlefield is part of the hobby. Choose a packaged campaign when your priority is getting a stable insurgency running for players who do not want to be mission testers.

Choosing a map without inventing a “best” terrain

Use Altis for the clearest low-dependency KP Liberation start

Altis is listed in the KP Liberation README as requiring no additional mods in the documented custom-map example. That makes it a sensible baseline for validating server settings, saves, player roles and logistics before adding terrain or faction packages. It does not prove that Altis is the fastest map on every machine, nor that it is the best terrain for every group.

Use Antistasi’s documented terrain families when the setting fits

For Antistasi Community, the documented list includes Altis, Kunduz, Malden, Anizay, Takistan, Sahrani and Kujari. Select among them by the climate, settlement pattern, sightlines and faction template that support your group’s preferred tactics. An arid template may emphasize exposed movement and long approaches; a denser settlement layout can make raids and garrison defense feel different even when the campaign rules are unchanged.

Treat community ports as compatibility decisions

A port or custom terrain should pass four checks before a campaign announcement:

  • The mission version explicitly supports the terrain.
  • The terrain Workshop item is identical on the server and clients.
  • Faction and equipment mods match the selected template or preset.
  • A short multiplayer test confirms loading, saving, respawning and objective generation.

Do not select a map on an unverified claim that it delivers a particular FPS, RAM footprint or server tick rate. The available primary material does not provide a current benchmark that ranks the listed terrains on those measures.

Antistasi versus KP Liberation: a practical decision framework

If your group values… Prefer Reason
Starting weak and earning every capability Antistasi Community The resistance begins with minor assets and grows through equipment, money, human resources and captured territory.
A commander, supply chain and FOB network KP Liberation Those systems are documented core features, alongside production, purchasing and logistics.
A campaign that can run for weeks with a broad roster KP Liberation The README documents a weeks-long liberation campaign and co-op for up to 34 players.
Infantry raids and guerrilla tactics as the main identity Antistasi Community The project explicitly focuses on resistance, infantry and guerrilla warfare.
Custom insurgent behavior and intelligence systems ALiVE-backed mission The framework lets mission makers assemble command, support, logistics and dynamic battlefield modules.
Minimal mission-authoring effort Antistasi Community or a prepared KP Liberation package ALiVE requires substantially more design, testing and maintenance.

Server preparation checklist

Use this checklist regardless of which mission you choose:

  • Freeze the version set: Write down the mission release, terrain item and every faction or support mod.
  • Match server and clients: Antistasi specifically requires clients to load the same Antistasi mod as the host; KP Liberation and ALiVE scenarios likewise depend on matching mission assumptions.
  • Validate the save path: Create a visible campaign change, save, restart and confirm that the state returns.
  • Test with representative roles: For Antistasi, test AI recruitment, garrisons and a guerrilla task. For KP Liberation, test commander planning, an FOB, logistics and a resource purchase. For ALiVE, test the modules that provide the mission’s insurgent behavior and intelligence.
  • Document recovery: Keep a known-good mission file and mod manifest so you can roll back after a failed update.
  • Announce limitations: Tell players whether the mission is a finished campaign, a custom preset or a locally hosted scenario with special requirements.

Common failure modes and fixes

The server loads the map but clients cannot join

Check mod parity first. A terrain, faction package or Antistasi version that differs by even one item can prevent a clean join. Compare the server’s active list with each client’s loaded list and remove old duplicate Workshop entries before trying again.

The mission starts but the intended factions or equipment are missing

Confirm that the selected mission variant matches the terrain and faction template. Antistasi templates change with climate and loaded mods. KP Liberation prepacked missions can depend on specific terrain and faction packages; loading only the terrain may produce an incomplete setup.

Progress disappears after a restart

Reproduce the issue with a small test group. Save after a clear change, restart the mission, and check whether vehicles, garrisons, FOB state, resources or statistics return. If the failure is limited to one package, revert to the last known-good mission and compare the version or preset change rather than changing several variables at once.

A 34-player plan feels empty or unmanageable

KP Liberation’s documented limit is a maximum cooperation figure, not a recommended attendance target. Assign commander, logistics, construction and assault responsibilities only when enough players are present; with a small group, simplify the operation and use recruitable AI where appropriate.

An ALiVE scenario behaves differently on a dedicated server

Read the scenario’s own hosting note. The Battle of FATA example warns that it should be locally hosted, showing why an ALiVE mission cannot be assumed to have the same hosting requirements as another mission built on the framework.

Recommended launch paths

For a new or small community

Start with Antistasi Community on a documented compatible terrain. Run a short campaign with a small player group, verify persistence and teach the resistance-resource loop before adding optional dependencies. This path keeps the operational idea clear: raid, recover, recruit, capture and defend.

For an established group of up to 34 players

Use KP Liberation when your players want a commander and a shared logistics problem. Begin with the documented Altis custom-map baseline, then move to a prepacked terrain only after the save system and role structure are reliable.

For a mission-making team

Build on ALiVE when a custom insurgency is the objective itself. Prototype one operational area, one insurgent threat set and one persistence path. Add support and logistics modules only after the core battlefield behaves correctly for both local testing and the hosting arrangement you intend to use.

Bottom line on missions and maps

Antistasi Community is the best default recommendation for a server that wants a recognizable, persistent insurgency without designing a campaign from scratch. KP Liberation is the better choice for a larger combined-arms group that wants up to 34-player cooperation, command planning, FOB construction and logistics. ALiVE is the specialist option: powerful for custom battlefields, but dependent on mission-authoring skill and scenario-specific testing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the terrain only after choosing the campaign structure. Altis offers the clearest documented low-dependency starting point for KP Liberation; Antistasi’s listed terrains provide supported climate and faction-template choices; community ports require explicit compatibility checks. No supplied source justifies a universal performance ranking, so validate the map, mission and mod set on your own server before committing to a long campaign.
