Honkai: Star Rail and Blue Archive are strong starting points if free-player generosity is your priority, but there is no verified, apples-to-apples ranking of how many free pulls each game currently gives. The better choice depends on what you enjoy playing, how much time you want to spend on routine tasks, and how each game’s banners let you save toward a character.
How to compare free rewards fairly
In a gacha game, you use in-game currency—earned through play or bought—to make randomized pulls for characters or items. A game can be free to install and play while still selling paid currency and making specific characters uncertain to obtain. Free rewards do not mean every character is available on demand.
Reward totals are difficult to compare across games: they can depend on the version, region, account progress, event participation, exploration, and one-time newcomer bonuses. The available comparisons are editorial judgments, not a controlled test or a shared official reward ledger. Instead of treating “generous” as a single score, weigh these factors:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Reward cadence: What recurring currency, tickets, event rewards, and beginner bonuses can you earn?
- What rewards buy: Can you save the rewards for a character you want, and what banner rules apply?
- Time cost: Do daily and weekly tasks fit the time you actually want to spend?
- Free-player fit: Can you enjoy the story and the content you care about with starter or lower-rarity characters, even if collecting every character is unrealistic?
- Gameplay: Does the core loop—exploration, turn-based battles, tactical squads, action combat, or shooting—appeal to you?
Which anime gacha game fits you best?
| Game | Best fit | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Honkai: Star Rail | Turn-based team planning and a lower-friction routine | Described in a 2026 roundup as generous with pull currency; still banner-driven and has daily chores. |
| Blue Archive | Character- and story-led play with hands-off tactical squad battles | Has a reputation for free-player generosity, but that reputation is not a verified current pull budget. |
| Wuthering Waves | Fast action and open-world exploration | Its combat emphasizes dodges and parries; descriptions of generous updates do not establish a specific free-pull count. |
| Genshin Impact | Exploration, a large story campaign, and elemental combat | Character acquisition is gacha-based; collecting materials and keeping up with dailies can take time. |
| Zenless Zone Zero | Stylish action in compact missions | Its city hub and bite-sized missions suit shorter sessions, but characters are acquired through banners. |
| Goddess of Victory: Nikke | Shooter combat and story | Editorial coverage notes recurring free gems and recruit tickets, alongside heavy gacha monetization, repetitive combat, and a progression constraint known as the “160 wall.” |
Honkai: Star Rail: turn-based and convenient
Choose Honkai: Star Rail if you prefer planning a team and taking battles at your own pace over real-time action. Its auto-battle option and flexible character-material farming can make routine play less demanding, though daily chores remain part of the loop. A 2026 editorial roundup describes its pull currency as generous, not as a guarantee that you can collect every limited character.
Blue Archive: characters and story first
Blue Archive suits players drawn to character-focused writing and mostly hands-off tactical squad battles. It is often described as generous to free players, but that is a reputation rather than a verified count of what a new or returning account can earn now. Consider it for its style of play and story, not a promise of a particular number of pulls.

Wuthering Waves: action in an open world
Wuthering Waves is the action-first pick: its combat highlights dodges and parries, with an explorable world around the fights. Editorial comparisons praise its update cadence and generosity, but do not establish a reliable current free-pull total. Pick it because the combat and exploration appeal to you, then check the live notices for the rewards available in your region.
Genshin Impact: exploration and a long campaign
Genshin Impact is a natural fit if exploring a large world, following a story, and using elemental combat matter more to you than short daily sessions. Its character acquisition is tied to gacha, and collecting materials and completing dailies can be demanding. Coverage also characterizes its endgame as comparatively light, so decide whether the exploration and campaign are enough to keep you interested.

Zenless Zone Zero: urban action in shorter sessions
Zenless Zone Zero centers on a city hub and bite-sized action missions, making it a candidate if you want stylish combat without committing every session to open-world exploration. Characters come through banners, so compact missions do not change the uncertainty of acquiring a specific character.
A version 3.1, second-anniversary notice described a free claim for Lucy’s “Princess on Holiday” outfit through the “Summer Waves Roll In” event. That is a dated, event-specific example—not a standing bonus or evidence of what is claimable now. Check the official notice for the event’s dates and eligibility.
Goddess of Victory: Nikke: shooter combat and story
Nikke is the shooter option, with story alongside its combat. PC Gamer’s editorial coverage describes recurring free gems and recruit tickets, while also noting the “160 wall” progression constraint and the possibility that some limited or collaboration characters may not return. Other reviewed coverage flags heavy gacha monetization and repetitive combat. Those are editorial observations, not a current official accounting of rewards or a complete statement of banner rules; inspect the game’s current notices before committing to a specific character goal.
Banner guarantees matter more than a headline reward claim
A large-looking pile of currency is only useful in context. Before saving for a character, check the current banner rules in your region: what counts toward a guarantee, whether progress carries over, and whether character and equipment banners use separate systems. Rules can differ by game and version, so a universal “you need this many pulls” figure would be misleading without current official details.

Choose for the routine you will keep
Time is part of practical value. Turn-based battles and auto-battle can make Honkai: Star Rail easier to fit around a busy schedule. Genshin Impact’s open-world collecting and character-material farming may ask for more sustained time. Wuthering Waves favors active combat, while Zenless Zone Zero’s mission structure may suit shorter play windows. Blue Archive offers a more hands-off tactical approach, and Nikke is built around shooter combat. A reward loop you do not enjoy or cannot sustain is unlikely to feel generous in practice.
Check current rewards before you start
- Open the game’s official notices for your region and current version; look for event rewards, login campaigns, and any newcomer bonuses.
- Read the live banner details and confirm the guarantee rules, including whether character and equipment banners are separate.
- Check official channels for current codes and their expiration dates or eligibility limits.
- Compare rewards you can actually claim with the time and progression required; do not treat a one-time event or beginner bonus as recurring income.
A reviewed comparison guide provides estimated patch pull counts and pity values, but those secondary estimates use no common accounting method and were not validated against each game’s current official notices. Region, patch length, progression, exploration, participation, and one-time rewards all affect totals. They are not a sound basis for declaring one game the most generous.

Sources and scope
The game comparisons and gameplay descriptions draw on a 2026 roundup, a reviewed cross-game comparison guide, and PC Gamer coverage. The only clearly identified official reward example in the reviewed material is the version 3.1 Zenless Zone Zero outfit event described above; it does not establish current recurring login bonuses, newcomer totals, or matched reward totals across all six games. Verify live terms before relying on a temporary offer.
