Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor most Android phones, start with a tracker listed for Google Find Hub; for a Samsung Galaxy phone, Galaxy SmartTag2 is the ecosystem-specific option. A Bluetooth tracker is not a GPS device: nearby phones have to detect it and report its location, so a lost suitcase may show a useful location update—or only an older one.
Choose the finding network your phone supports
A tracker’s network determines which nearby phones can help report its location. Check the exact model and regional availability before buying; brand names alone do not confirm compatibility. Google’s Find Hub device directory lists compatible tags from brands including Chipolo, Motorola, and Pebblebee, with examples such as Chipolo POP and LOOP, Moto Tag 2, and Pebblebee Clip 5. Google notes that features and availability vary by region and device.

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 is designed for Samsung’s finding ecosystem rather than being a general substitute for a Find Hub tag. Samsung’s setup requires a compatible Galaxy device, a Samsung account, and SmartThings Find. Its out-of-range reporting uses Galaxy Find Network, which relies on opted-in Galaxy users passing near the tag.

Compare the practical choices
| Use case | Option to consider | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Keys or bag on a general Android phone | A model on Google’s Find Hub list, such as Chipolo POP or LOOP | Confirm the exact model is listed and available for your region. Remote updates depend on nearby compatible phones. |
| Samsung Galaxy phone | Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 | Requires the Galaxy/SmartThings Find setup. UWB-guided nearby finding needs a compatible UWB-enabled Galaxy phone. |
| Wallet or passport holder | A compatible slim tracker card, such as the Android-compatible Chipolo CARD variant | Confirm the network edition and fit; Chipolo lists CARD at 2.5 mm thick. |
| Suitcase or travel bag | A suitable Find Hub-compatible tag | Choose a secure attachment or internal placement, and account for radio interference from metal or RFID-blocking materials. |
There is no established universal winner here: these options use different networks and form factors, and the available specifications do not establish a controlled cross-brand performance ranking.

Know what a tracker can—and cannot—tell you about luggage
A tag can help locate luggage, but it does not send its own continuous GPS position. Nearby search works when your phone is within Bluetooth range. Farther away, a participating compatible phone must pass close enough to detect the tag and report its location through the finding network. In a busy terminal that may produce updates; in a quiet area they may be sparse. A location shown on a map can therefore be stale rather than live.
Chipolo says its trackers can be placed in checked or carry-on luggage; for Android, the map location appears in Find Hub. Your phone needs internet or cellular access to display that map location, while a nearby Bluetooth search is a separate function. Chipolo also says one tracker can be active on only one finding network at a time. See its luggage tracking guidance for its travel-specific details.

- 📱 Global Cloud Positioning – Works with both Google's Find Hub (Android Only,Not for GPS & ios)
- 📢 Loud Alert Sound – Built-in speaker with up to 85dB for quick locating

Place and attach it thoughtfully
- A built-in loop or secure holder makes a tag convenient on keys and bag zippers; check whether the model needs a separate case or attachment.
- A slim card is meant for a wallet or passport holder, while a small tag can be tucked inside a suitcase.
- Chipolo says fabric and plastic cases should not block the signal. Aluminum cases, heavy foil, and RFID-blocking sleeves can severely degrade or block Bluetooth, so avoid enclosing a tag in those materials.
Compare range, battery, and durability claims carefully
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements or guarantees of finding a bag at the stated distance. Walls, luggage contents, and other obstacles affect actual Bluetooth performance. Remote network reporting is a separate matter and depends on nearby participating phones.

Samsung describes SmartTag2’s IP67 rating as lab-tested fresh-water submersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes; it is not a promise of waterproofing in every condition. Samsung says actual battery life varies. Its UWB compass guidance works only with a compatible UWB-enabled Galaxy handset. The stated SmartTag2 figures and conditions are on Samsung’s product specifications. Chipolo’s model-specific range figures are manufacturer claims in its travel guidance.

Make the choice by phone and item
- General Android phone: choose a specific tag on Google’s Find Hub directory, then match its shape to the item. For keys or a bag, look for an attachment that will stay secure.
- Samsung Galaxy phone: choose SmartTag2 if you want Samsung’s SmartThings Find and Galaxy Find Network experience and meet its device and account requirements.
- Wallet or passport holder: verify that the exact card version supports your Android finding network and fits the holder.
- Checked luggage: use a compatible tag as a way to help locate a bag when the network detects it—not as a promise of continuous tracking. Prefer a placement that avoids metal or RFID shielding.
Use trackers as item finders, not people locators
These products are intended to help find belongings, not to provide a reliable live location for a person or replace a GPS locator. Network-based updates can be delayed or absent when compatible phones do not pass nearby. Samsung says SmartThings Find offers unknown-tag alerts within its ecosystem; that feature should not be assumed to work identically across other tracker networks. See Samsung’s SmartThings Find support information.
