Best Alternatives to Automatic Job Application Extensions

Compare job-application autofill extensions with trackers, LinkedIn saved answers, and a manual spreadsheet or Notion workflow.

If you want less repetitive job-application work, the best alternative depends on what you want automated: profile-based autofill, a place to track applications, resume tailoring, or a platform’s own saved answers. These are not the same as an extension that submits applications for you. Simplify Copilot and Huntr offer autofill on supported forms; Teal and Jobscan focus more on tracking and resume workflows; LinkedIn can prefill saved application information; and a spreadsheet or Notion database keeps the process manual and customizable.

Choose by the part of the application process you want to simplify

Option Best fit What the cited source says it does Main limitation
Simplify Copilot Filling forms across supported employer portals and keeping submitted applications organized Simplify says its extension autofills on more than 100 job boards and portals, including Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS, Taleo, Avature, Lever, and SmartRecruiters. It says applications submitted with Copilot are automatically saved; autofill, tracking, job matches, and basic resume building are free. Support depends on the site. Simplify says its popup indicates compatibility and that new sites are continually added. These are vendor feature claims, not independent test results.
Huntr Chrome extension Capturing jobs while browsing and autofilling visible application forms from a saved profile Huntr says the extension can save jobs from employer career pages and hundreds of sites, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and ZipRecruiter. It can fill forms from a Huntr profile and save a job to the tracker. Autofill depends on the site allowing the extension and the application form being visible. Unsupported sites may require manual entry of job details.
Teal Combining job tracking with resume and writing tools A secondary comparison describes job tracking, notes, goals, resume building, job-description keyword matching, email templates, and AI writing features. The cited comparison is not an independent evaluation. Check Teal’s current official plan details for feature limits and availability.
Jobscan Connecting a job tracker to resume-match analysis A secondary comparison describes tracked roles with stages, interview details, contacts, notes, tasks, and resume Match Rate analysis. A match score does not establish that an application is accurate, reflect an employer’s own screening system, or guarantee an interview or job offer.
LinkedIn saved application data Prefilling applications made through LinkedIn with information you have saved there LinkedIn says it can save screening answers and up to four resumes, then prefill them in later applications. You can edit the information before submitting. LinkedIn says saved answers and resumes may be used without identifying information for product improvement, including generative-AI model improvement. You can opt out of saving application data in settings.
Spreadsheet or Notion A simple, self-managed application pipeline A secondary comparison describes recording a role, status, next action, date, source, and related details in a manual table or database. You maintain the fields, reminders, imports, and backups yourself.

The Teal, Jobscan, and manual-tracking descriptions come from a secondary comparison of job application trackers, not hands-on testing. The cited material does not establish current prices for these services.

Autofill is not the same as automatic submission

“Automatic job application” can describe several different actions: saving a job listing, filling form fields, drafting answers, tracking a submission, or submitting an application. Check which action a tool actually takes before relying on it. Simplify describes autofilling supported forms and automatically saving applications submitted with Copilot; Huntr describes profile-based autofill and job capture. Those descriptions do not establish that either service independently completes and submits every application for you.

Compatibility is conditional, too. Simplify says its popup signals whether a site is supported. Huntr says autofill requires a site that permits the extension and a visible application form. On an unsupported portal, expect to review or enter information yourself.

What happened to Indeed Apply For Me?

Indeed announced a limited U.S. test of Apply For Me on July 7, 2026. In an update dated August 4, 2026, the company said it was pausing automatic application mode and focusing on a version where people review drafted applications before submission. Indeed described the feature as an early test, not a full launch. It should not be treated as a generally available automatic-submission alternative on the basis of that announcement. Read Indeed’s announcement and update.

Indeed also reported that applications in the test were 3.5 times more likely to be a great fit for both candidate and employer than a typical application. That is Indeed’s company-reported result from its 2026 U.S. test; the cited announcement does not provide an independent replication or enough detail to treat it as a general outcome estimate.

How to choose without giving up control

  • For portal autofill: Compare Simplify and Huntr against the sites where you actually apply. Confirm compatibility before assuming a form will work.
  • For application organization: Consider Huntr or a tracker such as Teal or Jobscan if you want stages, notes, next actions, or resume-related tools alongside a list of roles.
  • For applications through LinkedIn: Saved screening answers and resumes can reduce re-entry, but review each prefilled answer and decide whether LinkedIn’s application-data settings fit your preferences.
  • For maximum flexibility: A spreadsheet or Notion database lets you choose the fields and workflow, at the cost of maintaining reminders and records yourself.
  • Before paying: Verify current plan limits and prices on the provider’s official pages; the cited sources do not establish current pricing for these alternatives.

None of the cited feature descriptions establishes that a particular tool improves callback, interview, or hiring odds. Treat compatibility and automation claims as descriptions of product capabilities, not guarantees of application outcomes.
