In VGC’s walkthrough, the first is beneath an ice-covered hatch in chapel-like ruins, while the second is beneath a hatch behind a nearby ruin and is reached through a hallway and a mushroom-covered ladder. Those directions are guide reports, not independently verified testing, and The Big Lead describes different landmarks. Use the frozen Beorcans, hatches and underground chests as your reliable search cues.
What the Beorcan’s Twinned Key door is asking for
The lock is not opened by one key used twice. The area contains two separate chest pickups, and the door is described as requiring both. If you have found one chest, the door can still remain locked until the other key is in your inventory.

This location is part of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Capcom’s expansion that adds the Norgan region and requires the base game Dragon’s Dogma 2. Capcom announced the expansion’s launch for October 9, 2026. The official product information establishes the setting, but it does not publish a key-retrieval route or a fix for an unresponsive door.

Because two published walkthroughs place the entrances differently, treat the directions below as navigation leads rather than a guaranteed, version-independent map. Do not assume that a route from one guide can be combined with the other as if both were confirmed.

Find the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key
VGC’s route begins at the locked door itself. It relies on a visible frozen Beorcan and an ice-sealed hatch rather than a precise map coordinate.
- Stand at the locked Twinned Key door. Take the path that leads away from the door instead of continuing to search the lock area.
- Watch for the bend to the right. When the path turns right, inspect the ruins on the left side.
- Identify the chapel-like ruins. VGC describes these remains as looking like a church or chapel. A frozen Beorcan should be associated with the entrance.
- Find the frozen hatch. Look for a hatch covered by ice. VGC reports that the frozen Beorcan gestures toward it and that the top of a ladder is visible through the ice.
- Break the ice and descend. Go down the ladder into the small underground room.
- Open the chest. The chest in that room contains the first Twinned Key according to the walkthrough.
If the ruin does not match this description, do not force the route. Recheck the bend in the path and search for the combination of chapel-like masonry, frozen Beorcan and ice-covered hatch. Those visual cues are more useful than trying to infer a direction from the door alone.
Find the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key
VGC’s second route starts close to the same locked door but uses a different ruin and a longer underground approach.

- Locate the small ruin near the door. It has a door that is locked from the opposite side, so the visible door is not the entrance you can use initially.
- Walk behind the ruin. Search beside a small wall for a hatch. VGC again reports a frozen Beorcan pointing toward the correct opening.
- Break through the ice and go down. Descend into the underground passage.
- Follow the hallway. The walkthrough reports an enemy on this route, so check the corridor rather than assuming the chest is immediately below the hatch.
- Find the ladder with mushrooms growing on it. Climb this ladder to reach the room on the far side of the ruin’s locked door.
- Search the chest in that room. VGC identifies this chest as the source of the second Twinned Key.
The locked door on the ruin is therefore a landmark, not a barrier you need to open from the outside. The route goes around it through the frozen hatch and returns to the interior side.
Why some guides point to different places
The disagreement is significant enough that a failed search does not automatically mean your game is broken. VGC and The Big Lead describe different surface approaches and entrance landmarks.
| Guide | First-key description | Second-key description | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| VGC | Leave the locked door, turn at the right-hand bend, and search chapel- or church-like ruins on the left for an ice-covered hatch. | Go behind a small ruin with a door locked from the other side; use a hatch beside a small wall, then a hallway and a mushroom-covered ladder. | Use the frozen Beorcans, hatches and underground chests as the main cues. |
| The Big Lead | Describes a house reached from a ruined house to its east. | Describes the easternmost ice-covered hole. | Use this account if VGC’s ruin layout does not match what you see, but do not merge its steps with VGC’s as a single confirmed route. |
Neither account is independently confirmed here by game testing. The practical implication is to search the cluster of ruins and ice-covered entrances around the door, not to conclude that a key is absent solely because one guide’s orientation differs from your map.

- Return to the first route. Revisit the chapel-like ruins on the path away from the door, break the frozen hatch and inspect the chest in the small room.
- Return to the second route. Circle behind the ruin with the opposite-side-locked door, find the hatch by the small wall, follow the hallway and climb the mushroom-covered ladder to the second chest.
- Use the landmarks, not only compass directions. Look specifically for a frozen Beorcan, an ice barrier, a ladder and an underground chest. The published routes do not establish a single exact coordinate.
- Do not assume a permanently unavailable chest. The route guides do not report that either chest or key becomes permanently unobtainable, so an overlooked entrance is a more supported explanation than permanent loss.
Search each chest again if you are unsure which one you opened. The available directions identify the chest locations, but they do not provide a separate interface message proving that a key was collected.
If both keys are held but the door still will not open
The published material does not provide a verified troubleshooting sequence for a door that remains unresponsive after both keys are in the inventory. In particular, it does not establish a platform-specific fix, a required reload order, or a quest-state reset. Avoid treating an unverified internet workaround as an official solution.
Rank #4
First distinguish a missing-key problem from a door-state problem: verify that both distinct key items are present, then return to the lock and interact with it again. If the inventory confirms both and the lock still gives no response, record your platform, game and expansion versions, and the exact point at which the interaction fails before seeking a support or bug-report channel. That information is more useful than repeatedly searching for a third key, because the available guides describe only two.
The Forger copying report
A Reddit player reports that the in-game Forger can copy the second key and that the process took two in-game days. This is an anecdotal player report, not an official instruction. The available sources do not verify the Forger’s requirements, cost, location, whether the copy works in every save, or whether the option appears for every player. Treat it as a possible fallback to investigate in your own game, not as a guaranteed remedy for a locked door.

Do you need to open the door?
VGC describes the two-key door as an optional challenge for players who are concentrating only on the main story. It mentions valuable rewards without identifying them. The Big Lead instead describes the doorway as an entrance into the stronghold. Because those descriptions do not settle every progression requirement, the safest conclusion is limited: VGC presents the door as optional for a main-story-focused playthrough, while another guide associates it with access to a stronghold. Do not rely on an unnamed reward or assume that every quest route treats the door identically.
Common mistakes that make the keys seem absent
Searching only beside the lock
Both key pickups are described as underground chest finds reached through entrances near the locked door. The chests are not presented as items lying on the door itself, so expand your search to the surrounding ruins and hatches.
Stopping at the first locked ruin door
For the second key, the ruin’s visible door is locked from the other side. Going behind the structure and finding the ice-covered hatch is the intended approach in VGC’s account.
Missing the ice and ladder cues
The first route uses an ice-sealed hatch with a ladder visible through the ice. The second uses a hallway and a ladder with mushrooms growing on it. If you have not seen those cues, you may be at the wrong ruin or have not followed the underground passage far enough.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAssuming a conflicting map proves a bug
The Big Lead’s landmarks differ from VGC’s. Try the alternate surface description and search for the same functional elements—an ice-covered opening, a descent and a chest—before concluding that your key failed to spawn.
Quick Recap
A concise recovery plan
- Confirm that the locked object is the Beorcan Twinned Key door and that your inventory contains two separate key items.
- From the door, retrace VGC’s first route to the chapel-like ruins and frozen hatch; descend and inspect the chest.
- Search behind the nearby ruin with the opposite-side-locked door; use the second hatch, hallway and mushroom-covered ladder to reach the other chest.
- If the surface layout differs, use The Big Lead’s house-and-eastern-hole landmarks without blending the two guides into one claimed route.
- If both keys are definitely present and the door remains inert, treat it as an unresolved game-state issue. The available sources do not establish a universal fix; document your setup rather than assuming a third key or a physical accessory is required.
