1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesSiteLock’s Web Application Firewall (WAF) is designed to filter malicious web requests before they reach a website, and SiteLock packages it with a content delivery network (CDN) in its Pro and Business plans. The main potential benefits are an extra layer against common application attacks, bot filtering, virtual patching, and traffic reporting. These are SiteLock’s product claims—not independently verified results—and a WAF does not replace software updates, malware cleanup, or backups.
What does a web application firewall do?
A WAF filters HTTP requests headed to a website and can block requests it identifies as malicious. SiteLock describes its WAF as a network-delivered service: traffic is routed through SiteLock’s network, where filtering takes place before requests reach the site’s application. Its technical documentation also describes firewall and CDN controls, with dashboard features dependent on what is provisioned for an account. Sectigo’s SiteLock firewall and CDN overview explains the available controls.

That position in the traffic path is useful because the filter can reject some harmful requests before the application processes them. It does not establish that every attack will be detected or blocked. SiteLock’s product pages describe capabilities but do not provide independent detection-accuracy tests, false-positive rates, availability figures, or customer-outcome data.
What benefits does SiteLock claim?
Filtering for common application attacks
SiteLock names SQL injection and cross-site scripting among the attack patterns its WAF is intended to block. It also describes protection against malicious bots and DDoS-style traffic. These are stated capabilities, not a guarantee against all attacks or a substitute for securing the site’s code and hosting environment. See SiteLock’s WAF product page for its description.

Virtual patching while a fix is pending
SiteLock says the WAF can filter exploit traffic aimed at known vulnerabilities. This is sometimes called virtual patching: a traffic rule may reduce exposure while an operator waits for a software or plugin update. It does not patch the affected software, remove the vulnerability, or eliminate the need to install the real fix as soon as possible.
Bot controls and traffic visibility
SiteLock describes using bot-behavior analysis, IP reputation, and rate limiting to distinguish abusive automated requests from legitimate activity. It also says its dashboard can show human and bot activity, blocked attack types, and request origins. Whether a particular site receives these reports or controls depends on its plan and account configuration; confirm the included features before relying on them.

WAF and CDN in one service
SiteLock presents its WAF alongside a CDN, which delivers site content through its network while traffic is filtered. Bundling these functions may simplify using one service for both purposes. SiteLock also describes potential performance benefits, but load times depend on the site, visitors, content, and configuration. No speed improvement for an individual website should be assumed without measuring it under that site’s conditions.
Which SiteLock plans include the WAF?
SiteLock’s current plan pages list WAF and CDN features with Pro and Business. The Business page describes additional options, including custom WAF rules and ecommerce-related features. Plan contents, pricing, and availability can change, so check the current SiteLock plans and pricing and the Business plan details for the account’s region. Verify the exact controls included, current price, renewal terms, and any region-specific conditions before buying.

Compare plans based on the site’s actual needs: whether it needs custom rules, what traffic reports are included, and whether its configuration can use the service. Do not assume that every WAF setting described by SiteLock is available on every plan.
What does setup involve?
SiteLock describes setup as routing site traffic through its network, including a DNS change. Its published statement says, “A single DNS change routes traffic through SiteLock’s network so the WAF can start protecting your site in minutes.” That is SiteLock’s description of setup, not a guarantee that every site will be fully configured or protected within that time. DNS, SSL, origin-server, and application requirements can vary.

- Check the account’s provisioned features. SiteLock’s firewall and CDN dashboard controls depend on the features enabled for the account, as described in the technical overview.
- Confirm deployment requirements. Ask SiteLock or the hosting provider which DNS records must change and what SSL, origin-server, and application settings the site needs.
- Route traffic as instructed. Apply the account-specific DNS configuration rather than copying settings from another site or plan.
- Check the site after the change. Verify that the website and HTTPS connections work, and confirm in the account dashboard that traffic and the expected WAF controls are active.
What a WAF does not replace
A WAF is one layer of website security, not a complete security program. SiteLock lists scanning, malware removal, patching, and backups as distinct capabilities on its website security and malware protection page. Filtering requests does not by itself clean an existing infection, update vulnerable software, repair insecure application code, or restore lost data. Treat those needs separately when assessing protection.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Keep software patched: virtual patching is a temporary traffic filter, not a software update.
- Plan for malware remediation: a WAF’s stated job is to filter traffic; do not assume it removes malware already on the site.
- Maintain backups: traffic filtering does not create a recovery copy of site data.
- Assess the wider environment: hosting, application code, account access, and other security controls remain relevant.
How to decide whether SiteLock’s WAF is a fit
Evaluate the service against the site’s deployment and protection requirements rather than treating “WAF included” as a complete security verdict.
