For the 2026 season, Ben Sinnott and Zach Ertz are not competing for the same Commanders role: NFL.com lists Sinnott with Washington and Ertz with Philadelphia. Washington’s September 9, 2026 depth chart places Sinnott third among its tight ends, so the available evidence does not support starting him as an established Commanders option or making a firm Sinnott-versus-Ertz call for this week.
Are Ben Sinnott and Zach Ertz both Commanders in 2026?
No. NFL.com’s 2026 Washington roster lists Sinnott as an active Commanders tight end. Its Ertz statistics page lists him with Philadelphia in 2026. The head-to-head framing is therefore outdated for current fantasy decisions.

Ourlads’ depth chart, updated September 9, 2026, lists Washington’s tight ends in this order: Chig Okonkwo, John Bates, Ben Sinnott, then Colson Yankoff. A depth chart is a role indicator, not proof of playing time or target volume, but it does not establish Sinnott as Washington’s first tight end.

What Ertz produced for Washington in 2024 and 2025
Ertz has recent Washington production that can inform a historical comparison, but those totals are not current-season projections. NFL.com records these regular-season lines:

| Season and team | Games | Receptions | Receiving yards | Receiving TDs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024, Washington | 17 | 66 | 654 | 7 |
| 2025, Washington | 13 | 50 | 504 | 4 |
The seasons differ in games played, so their raw totals are not directly equivalent measures of rate or availability. Ertz’s 2026 Philadelphia row shows one catch for nine yards in one game in the NFL.com page snapshot; that is an in-season entry, not a full-season projection.
Should you start Ben Sinnott or Zach Ertz?
The evidence available here does not settle a current weekly start/sit choice. It does not establish comparable 2026 targets, routes, snap shares, red-zone use, health, weekly production, or fantasy projections for both players. Ertz’s historical Washington totals cannot fill those gaps, and Sinnott’s depth-chart position alone does not tell you how many opportunities he will receive.

Before locking a lineup, compare the players’ current-week role and availability, then check recent targets and routes, snap share, red-zone involvement, opponent, and your scoring format. If reliable current usage information is unavailable, treat either choice as uncertain rather than assuming Sinnott has inherited Ertz’s former workload.

Is Ben Sinnott worth drafting in fantasy football?
The available facts do not justify a confident draft recommendation. Sinnott is on Washington’s roster, but the listed depth chart places him behind Okonkwo and Bates, and the sources do not establish his current receiving usage. ESPN’s 2026 projections include a Sinnott entry, but a preseason projection is not actual production or confirmation of his role. Use a current projection only as one input alongside updated depth-chart, usage, and availability information.

What this comparison can—and cannot—tell you
For a retrospective on Washington’s 2025 tight-end room, Ertz had the documented production and was ahead of Sinnott on the team’s Week 1 depth chart. Washington’s September 2, 2025 chart listed Ertz before Sinnott. For a 2026 fantasy decision, however, the team affiliations have changed, and the retrieved evidence is insufficient to rank the players by current fantasy value.
Washington’s current roster page identifies Sinnott as number 82, 6 feet 4 inches, 245 pounds, from Kansas State, and in his third season. Those roster details do not establish fantasy opportunity; current role and actual usage are more relevant to a lineup decision.
