Beginner’s Guide to Creating a .org Website with Hostinger

A practical walkthrough of choosing a .org domain, checking Hostinger’s listed costs, and setting up WordPress or another website route.

You can register a .org domain without being a nonprofit. To create a site with Hostinger, choose and register the domain, select a website-building route, connect the domain to it, and check the hosting and renewal costs before checkout. Hostinger lists .org registration at $8.99 for the first year and $17.99 per year to renew as of October 5, 2026; those are vendor-listed prices, so confirm the exact terms in your cart.

Is .org the right domain for your project?

Anyone can register a .org domain; Hostinger does not require nonprofit status. The extension is commonly associated with nonprofits, community groups, education, advocacy, open-source work, and other mission-led projects. It signals positioning, not the owner’s legal status or the site’s trustworthiness.

Hostinger suggests .org for organizations and public-interest projects, while .com may feel more familiar to a broad commercial audience. Treat that as a branding consideration rather than a rule. Choose the extension that fits the audience and purpose of your site.

Hostinger’s guidance says a site’s trustworthiness depends more on the site and its security than on its domain extension. That is the registrar’s general guidance, not an independent security assessment. Hostinger’s .org domain information

Choose a name and check its availability

  1. Brainstorm a clear name. Aim for something short, legible, easy to spell, and appropriate to the group or project. Hostinger recommends using a brand name and avoiding hyphens, numbers, slang, and difficult spellings.
  2. Search the exact name with .org. Availability applies to the precise string you enter and can change. A name appearing available during a search is not a guarantee that it will remain available until checkout.
  3. Review the cart before buying. Check the registration term, first-year charge, renewal price, and any extras. Hostinger lists terms from one to three years and free domain privacy protection on its .org page; verify what applies to your selected domain and current cart.

Understand the domain and website costs

Hostinger’s .org page listed registration at $8.99 for the first year and renewal at $17.99 per year when checked on October 5, 2026. These are Hostinger’s listed prices, not a universal .org rate. The amount charged at checkout may depend on the selected term, account region, taxes, availability, and current offers.

Domain registration is separate from building and hosting a website. A domain is the address; hosting or a website builder supplies the service that publishes the site. Hostinger’s support information notes that domain prices vary by extension and special offers, and renewal or redemption can cost more than initial registration. Check the price for the exact domain in your cart. Hostinger’s domain pricing support page

Hostinger advertises a free .org domain with a qualifying premium web hosting offer for 12 months. Its support page says only some hosting plans include a free domain, so do not assume your chosen plan qualifies. At checkout, confirm the eligible plan, included extension, registration period, and domain renewal charge.

Choose how to build the site

Hostinger’s documented WordPress setup offers a guided AI-assisted route or a blank WordPress installation. The available documentation does not establish that one is best for every beginner: choose according to whether you want guided setup or prefer to configure the site yourself. Hostinger also offers a website-builder route, but a historic Hostinger guide search result that mentioned a starting price of $2.99 per month is not a confirmed current offer. Use the price and terms shown at checkout.

Create a WordPress site through Hostinger

  1. Start the site setup: in Hostinger, open Websites for the hosting plan you want, select Create website, then choose WordPress.
  2. Set administrator details: choose the dashboard language, enter the administrator email, and create a strong password. These credentials are for managing the WordPress site.
  3. Choose the installation route: select Hostinger’s AI-assisted setup or start with a blank WordPress installation. Theme selection can be done after setup under Appearance → Themes.
  4. Select a domain option: use a domain you already own, buy a new one, choose a subdomain, or use a temporary domain while you set up. If the domain is registered elsewhere, point it to Hostinger.
  5. Open WordPress: after installation, use WP Admin to enter the dashboard and build the site’s pages, navigation, and content.

Hostinger’s setup instructions are in its WordPress website creation guide. If you are not ready to settle on a domain, its onboarding flow permits using a temporary domain while setup proceeds. Hostinger’s WordPress setup support

Before you pay

  • Confirm the domain spelling and that the exact .org name is available.
  • Compare the first-year registration charge with the renewal price.
  • Check whether the hosting plan includes a domain, which extension it covers, and for how long.
  • Review the hosting or builder plan price separately from the domain price.
  • Check the registration term, privacy protection, taxes, and any extras shown in the cart.

Hostinger’s prices and offers can change, and the sources do not establish a current independent comparison of Hostinger’s features or performance against other providers. Base the purchase on the live checkout terms and the route that suits how you want to build the site.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
