If viewers cannot hear you on a Be.Live YouTube stream, first check whether the Be.Live camera source is muted. If its microphone indicator moves when you speak, Be.Live is receiving your voice; next check YouTube’s player volume and the affected viewer’s browser or device sound settings. These checks distinguish a host-side capture problem from a viewer-side playback problem.
First identify where the sound is missing
There are two different problems behind “no sound”: Be.Live may not be capturing the host’s microphone, or the stream may have audio that a viewer’s YouTube player or device is not playing. Ask whether the silence affects everyone or only one viewer, and whether all stream audio is missing or only your voice. Then check the studio microphone indicator while speaking.
- The indicator does not move: investigate the source mute, selected microphone, browser permission, and other apps using the mic.
- The indicator moves, but viewers hear nothing: investigate YouTube playback and the viewer’s output volume or device.
- Only one viewer has no sound: prioritize that viewer’s player, browser, device volume, and output device rather than changing the host’s mic setup.
Fix microphone capture in Be.Live
1. Make sure the camera source is not muted
In the Be.Live studio, check the camera source controls and turn off Mute if it is enabled. Be.Live’s setup guide describes this control as disabling the microphone, which means viewers stop hearing the host. See Be.Live’s camera and microphone settings guide.
2. Select the intended microphone and watch its indicator
- In the production studio, click the gear icon above the camera image.
- Select the microphone you intend to use. If you have a built-in mic, headset, webcam mic, or USB mic, confirm the selected device is the one you are speaking into.
- Speak at your normal streaming distance and watch the sound indicator. Be.Live says a moving indicator means the microphone is working.
If the indicator does not move, try another available input. Also check that the microphone is connected and enabled in your computer’s sound settings. Be.Live’s instructions for checking devices are at How to Check Camera and Microphone Settings Inside the Production Studio.

3. Check browser permissions and other applications
Allow Be.Live to use the microphone in the browser’s site permissions, and confirm the operating system has not denied microphone access to the browser. If another application is using the mic, close it and try again. Be.Live’s basic troubleshooting recommends granting camera, microphone, and speaker permissions, closing other software that may be using the devices, and refreshing the studio if it appears stuck: Basic Troubleshooting: Camera & Mic.
For setup, Be.Live specifies a desktop or laptop, the latest Chrome or Safari, and a stable internet connection in its YouTube streaming guide. A connection problem is more relevant when you also have lag or delay; for a completely silent voice track, begin with mute, input selection, and permissions.

If the microphone indicator moves, check playback
A responsive studio indicator points away from a dead or unselected host microphone. Check the YouTube stream’s player volume and mute control, then check the browser and device volume and confirm sound is routed to the intended speakers, headphones, or headset. When only one viewer is affected, have that person test another YouTube video or another output device. This helps establish whether the issue is specific to the stream or to that viewer’s playback setup.

Prevent echo and feedback while testing
Be.Live warns that duplicate studio tabs or an open YouTube stream in another tab can cause audio from playback to be picked up by the microphone and create echo. Close extra studio tabs and close or mute the YouTube playback tab while you are live. Headphones help avoid echo and feedback during monitoring, as Be.Live recommends, but they will not unmute the camera source, select the right input, or fix a muted YouTube player.
Test before making the stream public
Use a Private or Unlisted YouTube broadcast, or make an Offline Broadcast recording, to review the result and microphone settings before a public stream. Be.Live explains these options in How to Test the Be.Live Studio. Listen to the test on a separate device if possible, so you check both what the studio captures and what viewers receive.
