When are Platoons and the Server Browser coming to Battlefield 6?
EA’s July 30, 2026 roadmap placed both features in Season 5, which it associated with the winter roadmap window. In its September 30 season update, EA clarified that the Server Browser will arrive later in the season. The cited updates do not give a calendar release date for either feature, or an exact date for Season 5’s start. EA’s Season 5 update and its roadmap update describe plans rather than a dated launch promise.

How are Battlefield 6 Platoons planned to work?
The first planned version is centered on forming and managing a social group. EA says players will be able to create or join a Platoon of up to 100 members. The planned tools include:

- Configurable join settings and leadership tools for managing membership.
- A way to party up with other members.
- XP bonuses when members play together.
EA describes this as the foundation of a larger feature that will be delivered progressively across several seasons. The initial release should not be read as the complete long-term Platoons feature set.

What is the Season 5 Server Browser supposed to offer?
EA says the browser is intended to give players more choice in finding and joining matches, as well as ways to build in-game communities. The roadmap outlines several design goals:
- Official servers should be easy to identify.
- Servers are planned to support full progression.
- Regular matchmaking will remain available, with the ability to backfill active matches.
- EA is working toward more persistent match flow where possible, while respecting matchmaking choices.
These are plans, not confirmed performance results or a final specification. In particular, EA has not said that every server will remain persistent. Its wording is that it is working toward more persistent match flow where possible.

How does server browsing differ from regular matchmaking?
Regular matchmaking places players into matches through the usual matchmaking flow; a browser is meant to let players choose among available servers and find communities more directly. EA’s stated goals combine that added choice with recognizable Official servers, progression support, and backfill for active matches. The updates do not establish how those goals will work in every mode or what the finished browser interface will look like.
EA’s general FAQ also says players can browse and create servers through Portal. That existing Portal capability is separate context; it should not be assumed to be identical to the broader Season 5 Server Browser plans. See EA’s Battlefield 6 FAQ.

What else is planned for Battlefield 6 Season 5?
Season 5 is a wider content rollout, not just the two features in this announcement. EA’s September 30 update describes three new maps taking players to Vegas across the season, with two available at launch. It also previews new weapons, combat balance changes across weapons, classes, and vehicles, and Rapid Royale Solos and Trios for REDSEC at the start of the season. The update does not provide a calendar date for those launch plans.
Could the announced features change?
Yes. EA says live-service announcements can change as development continues and feedback comes in. Its October 1, 2026 Year 2 preview says planned changes may be adjusted, delayed, or removed based on Battlefield Labs testing and player feedback.
