AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner 2020 is a SitePoint Premium video course published in July 2020 for the Cloud Practitioner exam of that period. Its 114 videos introduce AWS cloud concepts, services, security, and billing, but the course predates the current CLF-C02 exam. Anyone preparing now should use AWS’s current exam guide to check the course against today’s objectives rather than assume the lessons are up to date.

What is the SitePoint Premium course?

SitePoint describes this as an introductory course intended to build an understanding of AWS Cloud, billing, pricing, security, and exam preparation. Its page lists 114 videos covering these topics:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Cloud concepts and AWS global infrastructure
  • Getting started with AWS and hands-on work
  • An overview of AWS technology and services
  • Billing and pricing, including EC2 pricing
  • Security and a “variation study”

The course page also displays 2,232 “Happy students” and a 5.0 rating from 2 ratings. These are figures shown on the page, not independently audited measures of learning outcomes. View the SitePoint course page.

Why the 2020 course is not automatically current exam preparation

AWS retired the CLF-C01 exam after September 18, 2023, and introduced CLF-C02 on September 19, 2023. The SitePoint course was published in 2020, so it was made for the earlier exam era. Its age alone does not prove that every lesson is obsolete, but it does mean learners should not treat it as verified CLF-C02 preparation without checking each topic against the current objectives. AWS’s exam-transition announcement.

What the current CLF-C02 exam covers

AWS describes CLF-C02 as a foundational certification demonstrating overall knowledge of AWS Cloud, independent of a specific job role. Its current exam guide divides the content into four weighted domains:

CLF-C02 domain Exam weight
Cloud Concepts 24%
Security and Compliance 30%
Cloud Technology and Services 34%
Billing, Pricing, and Support 12%

The weights indicate the relative share assigned to each domain; they are not a guarantee of the exact number of questions in a particular sitting. Use the current CLF-C02 exam guide to review its task statements and detailed scope.

AWS’s certification page currently lists a 90-minute exam with 65 multiple-choice or multiple-response questions and a price of USD 100. Exam details and fees can change, so confirm them on the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner page before scheduling.

How to use the course if you are studying now

  1. Start with AWS’s current exam guide. Read the CLF-C02 domains and task statements first; treat them as the syllabus, not the older course outline.
  2. Map each SitePoint lesson to an objective. Mark which current tasks a video supports. A broad topic match is not enough if the lesson omits the knowledge the task requires.
  3. Identify uncovered or outdated material. Use current AWS resources to fill gaps, and verify any service, pricing, or feature details against current AWS documentation.
  4. Check practice and feedback. The listed course outline establishes its video topics, but does not establish that it supplies CLF-C02-aligned practice questions or feedback. Use practice materials tied to the current exam.
  5. Compare hands-on access and terms. The outline mentions hands-on work, but does not specify current lab access or course access terms. Check what is actually included before relying on it.

AWS’s current certification page points candidates to an Exam Prep Plan, practice questions, a pretest, digital courses, Builder Labs, Cloud Quest, and Jam. Its certification preparation resources can complement older video lessons with materials organized for current preparation.

How this differs from historical CLF-C01 guidance

The version 1.6 CLF-C01 exam guide recommended at least six months of AWS Cloud experience in any role and a basic understanding of IT services. It also pointed candidates to AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, AWS Technical Essentials, AWS Business Essentials, selected whitepapers, and support-plan information. Those recommendations describe the legacy CLF-C01 guidance; they should not be presented as current CLF-C02 prerequisites. Read the CLF-C01 exam guide.

AWS’s 2020 preparation page organized its advice around training, whitepapers, exam readiness, scheduling, and continued learning. That page is useful historical context, while AWS’s current guide and certification-prep resources are the better anchors for a present-day study plan. AWS certification preparation.

Is the course worth using?

The course can serve as a structured introduction to foundational AWS topics if you already have access to it and its lessons suit your learning style. Its breadth—cloud concepts, infrastructure, services, security, and billing—overlaps with areas relevant to CLF-C02. However, the available course outline does not establish alignment with every current task statement, the presence of current practice questions, the terms of present-day access, or the status of its hands-on activities. Judge it as a legacy learning resource, then fill and verify gaps with current AWS materials.

If you encounter study guides or books labeled CLF-C01, note the exam version prominently: a legacy title is not automatically suitable for CLF-C02. For example, Wiley lists a physical book titled AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Study Guide with Online Labs: Foundational (CLF-C01) Exam. Confirm that any book matches the exam you plan to take and is available in your marketplace; current candidates should anchor their syllabus to AWS’s CLF-C02 guide.
