The company says they are designed to help creator studios connect wireless devices, workstations and storage. Those use cases reflect ASUS’s positioning; the published specifications are not independent proof of real-world speed or performance.
What are the ASUS ProArt Router PRT-BE5000 and ProArt Switch PQG-U1080?
The PRT-BE5000 is a wireless router, while the PQG-U1080 is a wired Ethernet switch. ASUS presents the pair as an expansion of its creator-focused ProArt line into studio networking: the router provides Wi-Fi and network management features, and the switch adds wired multi-gigabit connections for devices such as workstations and network-attached storage (NAS). ASUS announced both products globally on April 7, 2026. ASUS’s announcement cautions that specifications and availability may differ by country and can change.

Does the ProArt Router PRT-BE5000 support Wi-Fi 7?
Yes. ASUS specifies a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 router with Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and a combined rated throughput of up to 5000Mbps. Its specification table lists 688Mbps on 2.4GHz and 4320Mbps on 5GHz. These are manufacturer-rated figures, not a promise of the speed a particular device or studio will achieve; ASUS notes performance may vary with applications, usage, environment and other factors.
Router ports and features
| Specification | ASUS listing |
|---|---|
| WAN | One 2.5G port |
| LAN | One 2.5G port and three 1G ports |
| Wireless | Dual-band Wi-Fi 7; rated up to 5000Mbps combined |
| Additional features | Multi-Link Operation (MLO), AiMesh and ProArt Router Control Center |
The port mix matters when planning a studio network: only one wired LAN port is rated at 2.5G, while the three remaining LAN ports are 1G. ASUS lists AiMesh and ProArt Router Control Center on its global ProArt router page.

How many ports does the ProArt Switch PQG-U1080 have?
It has ten ports in total: eight 2.5G RJ45 Ethernet ports and two 10G SFP+ ports. ASUS also lists an 80Gbps switching capacity and a 59.5Mpps forwarding rate in its announcement. These are published switch specifications, not independent measurements of file transfers in a working studio.
ASUS describes the PQG-U1080 as plug-and-play and names workstations, PCs, NAS systems and Wi-Fi access points as example connections. The ASUS Malaysia product page also describes CAT5e cable support and desktop, table-leg or magnetic mounting. That page is specific to Malaysia; it does not establish availability or identical terms in other markets.

Check compatibility before connecting equipment
- A device needs a 2.5G Ethernet interface to use a switch port at that link rate; a 1G interface will not become a 2.5G connection simply by plugging it into the switch.
- ASUS says existing CAT5e cabling is supported, but the result still depends on the cable run and the connected equipment. Check the cabling in your own studio rather than assuming every existing run will deliver a particular speed.
- The 10G SFP+ ports require compatible SFP+ equipment and connectivity. Confirm the module, cable or fiber type and the other endpoint before planning a 10G link.
- The switch can expand wired connections, but it does not add Wi-Fi on its own. A wireless access point is one of ASUS’s suggested devices to connect to it.
What creator workflow is ASUS aiming to support?
ASUS says its Creator-First adaptive QoE can prioritize creative traffic in real time. It also describes Smart Home Master as a way to simplify network segmentation through dedicated SSIDs for IoT devices and VPN connections. The company’s intended setup is to combine wireless prioritization with the switch’s wired connections for workstations, NAS storage and other studio devices—supporting activities such as file transfers, cloud collaboration and streaming.

What should you compare before choosing a studio network setup?
Compare the products with the interfaces and infrastructure you actually have, not just their headline rates.
- Wireless needs: compare Wi-Fi standard and rated band speeds, while treating manufacturer rates as specifications rather than expected results.
- Wired connections: count the RJ45 ports at each speed and the SFP+ ports, then check whether your workstation, NAS and access point can use them.
- Existing infrastructure: verify cable category and condition, compatible SFP+ equipment, and the speeds supported by your internet connection and local devices.
- Network management: consider whether traffic prioritization, segmentation or mesh support fits your setup, and what configuration the network requires.
- Placement and local terms: account for mounting and desk space, then verify your market’s price, stock, warranty and availability with ASUS or a local seller.
