First, make sure this is a billing problem
DataStax Astra Streaming is a cloud event-streaming service built around Apache Pulsar, not a consumer video subscription. DataStax describes it as a unified event-streaming, queuing, and pub-sub service (DataStax pricing page; Terraform Registry provider documentation).

The word “subscription” can also mean an application-level subscription to a Pulsar topic. That is a technical message-consumption relationship, not a paid account plan; changing a card will not fix a topic-subscription error. DataStax documents topic subscription operations separately in its Astra Streaming API operations.
Check account billing and credits
- Sign in to the DataStax account used to provision Astra Streaming. Confirm you are viewing the account associated with the affected service.
- Review the billing status and credit balance displayed in that account. DataStax says a database may be temporarily paused when credits run out. If the balance is exhausted, use the account’s displayed billing or credit controls to resolve it.
- Check the saved payment method’s validity and whether the payment attempt was declined. If the card has expired or cannot transact, use the account’s available controls to update or replace it, then follow any displayed instructions for resolving the failed payment.
- Check account notices for a payment failure, credit issue, or service-status change. If the account does not explain the failure or show an available recovery action, contact DataStax through the support route displayed there.
DataStax’s pricing page states for a card-payment failure: “You will be notified and will have 30 days to resolve your payment issue or your database may be suspended.” The page gives that guidance for Enterprise plans; it does not establish that the same timeline applies identically to every plan or payment scenario. Treat any notice in your own account as the relevant status for your service.

The available DataStax public guidance does not state which payment methods are supported for customers in India, explain how RBI rules affect a particular transaction, or document a precise current console path for recovery. Do not assume that a consumer payment method or a retry schedule applies to this cloud-service account. Confirm the available methods and next steps from the billing options or support route shown in your DataStax account.
If billing looks healthy, check for a technical issue
If the account shows active billing and sufficient credits but your application still cannot consume messages, investigate the Pulsar topic subscription separately. Check the application’s subscription configuration and the specific API or client error; the payment guidance does not diagnose those technical failures. Use the API operations documentation for the relevant subscription operation, and contact DataStax support if the error remains unclear.
