ASOS says an unauthorized customer notification was sent on 6 October 2026 and that it is investigating activity involving third-party platforms used to communicate with customers. The investigation is ongoing: ASOS says names and contact details may have been accessed, but it does not currently believe payment card information or account passwords were affected. The company tells customers to ignore the notification and not click its external link.
Was ASOS hacked?
ASOS confirmed an unauthorized customer notification was sent at around 10 a.m. on 6 October. The company said it was investigating unauthorized activity involving third-party platforms it uses to communicate with customers, had restricted access to those platforms, and was working with specialist advisers and relevant authorities. Its regulatory announcement and customer notice describe an ongoing investigation, not a completed forensic account.

That distinction matters: the notification is confirmed, but the available official statements do not establish the technical entry route, whether information was actually taken out of systems, or how many customers were affected. ASOS says it will provide further information when confirmed.

What did the ASOS notification say?
Reporting by The Guardian says the message claimed that ASOS’s Snowflake instance had been compromised and threatened a leak. That is a claim in the unauthorized message, not a cause confirmed by ASOS in its official statements. The statements reviewed do not confirm Snowflake access or identify an attacker.

Was my ASOS account affected?
The UK National Cyber Security Centre advises ASOS customers to assume they are affected even if they did not receive the notification. That broad precaution does not mean ASOS has confirmed that every customer’s information was accessed. The NCSC notice offers the practical guidance for customers while the scope is still unknown.
What should I do if I got the notification?
- Do not click or engage with the external link. ASOS says to disregard the unauthorized notification.
- Do not respond to the message. Use ASOS’s official customer-care channels if you need to contact the company. ASOS also explains how to recognize its communications in its “How do I know I’m talking to ASOS?” guidance.
- Do not change your ASOS password solely because of this notice. ASOS says it is not currently asking customers to change their password or take another action. It says it will contact affected customers directly if that advice changes.
If you already clicked the link or entered information, the current ASOS notice does not provide a separate incident-specific recovery instruction. Avoid further interaction with the message and contact ASOS through its official site for advice.
