ASIC’s official Published Notices website is the source to search for insolvency and deregistration notices, but ASIC’s documented APIs do not provide the public liquidation-notice JSON lookup described here. A third-party service documents JSON search by ACN or ABN; treat it as an independent provider, and open the linked ASIC notice to verify any result.
Is there an official ASIC API for liquidation notices?
ASIC’s API documentation, last updated 27 January 2025, describes interfaces for Digital Service Providers interacting with ASIC registry services and a separate Reportable Situations API. The documented JSON POST endpoint for reportable situations is for submitting those reports, not searching public liquidation notices by ACN or ABN.

ASIC identifies its Published Notices website as the searchable source for insolvency and deregistration notices. Its guidance says the site holds notices published from 1 July 2012. ASIC does not document a public JSON API for searching that notice collection by company identifier in the API material above.

Ways to find notices by company identifier
| Route | Official status | Identifier lookup and format | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASIC Published Notices search | ASIC’s official search source | Search through the website; ASIC’s cited pages do not document an API for ACN or ABN JSON lookup. | Open and read the original notice on ASIC’s site. |
| Insolvency Alerts API | Independent third-party service, not an ASIC API | The provider documents JSON notice search and company lookup using ACN or ABN. | Check current documentation, access conditions, service availability, coverage, and the linked original ASIC notice. |
ASIC says most notices have been lodged to the standalone Published Notices website since 1 July 2012, replacing print-media publication. Examples include winding-up orders, appointments, meetings, disclaimers, proofs of debt, and deregistration notices. The archive date and notice types describe ASIC’s publication source; they do not establish the coverage or retention of any third-party API.

What the third-party JSON API documents
The Insolvency Alerts API reference describes a REST interface for searching notices, looking up companies, applying filters, and monitoring for notices. It says its company endpoint accepts either an ACN or an ABN and that each result links to the corresponding ASIC notice. These endpoint and feature details are claims in the provider’s documentation, not ASIC service guarantees.
The provider says its collector reads the sitemap for ASIC’s Published Notices and that a notice typically appears in its API within about a day of ASIC publication. That is the provider’s stated typical delay, not a guaranteed delivery time. For a time-sensitive decision, search ASIC’s site and confirm the original notice rather than relying solely on an API result or its absence.

How to use the API safely
- Confirm the service is suitable. Read the provider’s current API reference and terms before building against it. Confirm availability, authentication, rate limits, costs, coverage, and the current endpoint and response format; these details should not be inferred from the fact that JSON search is documented.
- Send the correct identifier. Use the ACN or ABN lookup documented by the provider, and preserve the identifier type in your own records so the result can be checked against the correct entity.
- Handle results as leads, not final evidence. Follow the result’s ASIC link and inspect the notice itself. For monitoring, account for the provider’s stated typical delay of about a day and check ASIC directly when timing matters.
- Keep source and retrieval details. Store the ASIC notice URL and the time you retrieved the result. This makes it easier to audit a match or revisit the source if the third-party service changes.
What not to assume
- A third-party endpoint is not an ASIC endpoint or evidence of ASIC endorsement.
- The API provider’s stated sitemap collection method, identifier support, and typical delay do not establish completeness or guaranteed freshness.
- ASIC’s archive statement beginning 1 July 2012 does not prove that a third-party service has identical historical coverage.
- An API result should not substitute for reading the linked ASIC notice when accuracy or timing matters.
Official alternatives and related ASIC searches
For manual notice lookup, use the ASIC Published Notices website. ASIC’s register search guidance covers searches of ASIC registers, a separate task from finding notices in the Published Notices collection.
