Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf an Ashampoo Backup Pro 27 backup fails, start with the affected plan’s status and that run’s log; the message and destination are more useful than guessing at a universal fix. Check the documented Windows and storage requirements, verify access to the selected destination, and use disk checks only when the log or symptoms point to a drive problem. Rescue-media creation has a separate troubleshooting path.
Start with the failed plan and its log
- Open Backup Plans and locate the plan whose status indicates a problem.
- Open that plan’s details, select the log entry for the failed run, and read its associated backup log.
- Record the complete error wording, run time, plan, and selected destination. Use those details to choose the relevant check below rather than treating every failure as the same issue.
The manual documents these status and log views, but does not establish one cause or one fix for all failed backups. If the message does not point clearly to a documented issue, consult Ashampoo’s official support index with the log details.

Check that your PC and storage meet the requirements
Ashampoo’s Backup Pro 27 requirements, reviewed October 4, 2026, list Windows 10 and Windows 11 in 64-bit editions. ARM systems and Windows Server are not supported. The product requires full administrator rights, and partitions or storage devices measuring 8 TB or more are unsupported.
Activation requires internet access, and the license is verified periodically. These are compatibility and licensing constraints to check against your setup—not proof that any one of them caused a particular run to fail.

Verify the destination and its access
Backup Pro 27 supports local and cloud destinations. Compare the plan’s selected destination with the one named or implied in the log, then check the relevant access:
- Local disk: Confirm the drive is connected and available to Windows.
- Network location: Confirm the destination is reachable from the computer running the backup and that the account has access.
- Cloud storage: Check that the required credentials are valid and the account can be reached. The manual says cloud login generally uses the standard browser, except for WebDAV.
The manual does not specify a universal free-space threshold or a single network remedy. Use the error wording and destination details to guide further checks rather than assuming a capacity or connection problem.
Run a disk check only when storage evidence warrants it
If the source or destination drive reports errors, or the backup log points to a storage problem, use the program’s Check disks area to check drive health and find or repair errors. A disk check is a targeted diagnostic, not a general fix for every failed backup.

Choose a backup format with its trade-offs in mind
The manual describes two format trade-offs that may matter when reviewing a plan or deciding how a backup should be stored:
| Format characteristic | Explorer-accessible format | More storage-efficient format |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Can be browsed in Windows Explorer | Accessible only in Backup Pro |
| Storage use | Uses more storage | Uses less storage |
| Extended file attributes | Does not preserve them | Includes attributes such as permissions and symlinks |
This is a usability and storage choice, not a diagnosis for a failure. The log remains the starting point for identifying the failed run’s cause.

- New AAC audio format support for ripping
- Optional disc ejection after ripping
- Improved CD database for more accurate results across all modules
- Intelligent audiobook detection, even for multi-part files
If rescue-media creation fails, check the ADK
Rescue-media creation is different from running a backup. Backup Pro 27 uses the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK); the manual says existing but outdated ADK components may cause errors during rescue-system creation.
- In Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
- Uninstall the entries named Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit and Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit Windows Preinstallation Environment Add-Ons, if present.
- Retry creating the rescue medium. If the connection is slow, the manual says the ADK can be downloaded on another machine.
For a flash drive larger than 32 GB, the program reduces its primary partition to 32 GB when creating rescue media. Use a drive whose contents can be erased; this is a rescue-media consideration, not a fix for a failed backup plan.

Keep restoration separate from troubleshooting
Restoration is a recovery operation, not a diagnostic step for a failed backup. File restoration lets you select files and folders. Restoring a partition or disk overwrites the existing target with the contents of the backup, so verify the selected backup and target before proceeding.
For system recovery, the manual says the rescue medium requires a previous backup created with the program; a full drive or partition backup is ideal. Do not start a disk or partition restore unless you intend to replace the target’s existing contents.
