Arvica Cloud Plans Liquid-Cooled Modular Data Center in Queensland

Arvica Cloud is planning a liquid-cooled GPU colocation facility in Brisbane or South East Queensland, targeting about 1 MW initially. The project is not operational, and site, power and approvals remain outstanding.

Arvica Cloud is planning a high-density GPU colocation facility in Brisbane or South East Queensland, with a target of about 1 MW initially and a possible 2–3 MW expansion path. It is not built or operational: Arvica says it has not secured a site or power allocation. Its Q1 2028 availability target depends on approvals and commissioning, so it is not a confirmed opening date.

What Arvica is proposing

The project is intended to provide colocation for customers bringing their own GPU hardware. Arvica describes a modular facility that could be deployed in phases as demand is confirmed. Its design concept combines prefabricated intelligent-compute micro-modules, an 800V HVDC power architecture, direct-to-chip liquid cooling and coolant distribution units (CDUs). The module count, architecture and eventual power and cooling capacity remain subject to final engineering.

Arvica gives several rack-density directions: multi-tens of kilowatts, a 100 kW-plus high-density design direction and a 250 kW-plus direction for its highest-density liquid-cooled configurations. These are design intentions, not verified rack capacities or deployed performance. Supported density will depend on the GPU platform, server configuration, cooling-loop design, available utility capacity and commissioning requirements.

How the proposed cooling system would work

In the described design, cold plates draw heat from GPUs and CPUs. Rack-level supply and return manifolds circulate coolant, while CDUs transfer heat from the IT coolant loop to a separate facility water loop. This is direct-to-chip cooling, not a claim that every component in a server is liquid-cooled.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Components Arvica says would remain air-cooled include power supplies, memory, network interface cards and storage. The final balance between liquid and air cooling, and the density it can support, has not been established.

Is the facility operational today?

No. Arvica says the project is in planning, with candidate sites in Brisbane and South East Queensland being assessed against power, connectivity and expansion criteria. Utility-capacity assessment is underway for the initial target and potential expansion, but no power allocation is secured. Electrical and liquid-cooling design remains at concept stage; construction and fit-out are planned after approvals.

Arvica’s undated project page, retrieved in 2026, gives Q1 2028 as a target availability or commissioning date. That date is conditional on approvals and commissioning, and should not be treated as a delivery commitment. The project figures below are company-stated planning targets, not independently verified facility specifications.

Availability or commissioning Q1 2028 target Conditional on approvals and commissioning; not guaranteed.

Colocation, GPU cloud and dedicated GPU capacity

The service choice depends chiefly on who supplies the compute hardware. In colocation, the customer supplies GPU hardware; Arvica plans to provide facility infrastructure such as power, cooling, rack space, network, remote hands and an Australian facility environment. GPU cloud and dedicated GPU capacity are separate services in which Arvica supplies compute capacity.

Question GPU colocation GPU cloud or dedicated GPU capacity
Who supplies the GPU hardware? The customer supplies it. Arvica supplies compute capacity.
What is the customer seeking? Facility space and infrastructure for its own equipment. Access to GPU compute without treating the service as customer-owned colocation hardware.
What must be confirmed? Facility, power, cooling, network and other terms in a written proposal. Service-specific compute capacity and terms in a proposal.

Customers with data-residency or support-access requirements should state them in an expression of interest (EOI). Arvica says the proposal can address where compute and storage are located and where support access occurs; the project page does not establish those details for a future deployment.

What the EOI does—and does not—secure

Arvica is accepting EOIs in four planning bands. They indicate the scale of interest the company is inviting, not capacity currently available to reserve.

Arvica says submitting an EOI creates no payment obligation and does not reserve capacity. Its described commercial sequence is requirements review, discussion, a written proposal when site, utility and engineering positions allow, and a capacity reservation only under a signed agreement. An EOI is therefore a way to communicate requirements, not a booking.

What is confirmed—and what remains open

The available project information is Arvica’s own description. It establishes the company’s stated concept, planning targets, EOI process and present qualifications, but does not independently establish a secured site, power allocation, approval or construction milestone. The planned facility should therefore be understood as a proposed development rather than an operating Queensland data center.
