Yes, an Arma Reforger server can charge for access, accept donations, and carry advertising—but only if Bohemia Interactive has approved and listed it, and nothing sold changes gameplay. Every mod also needs a license that permits monetized use. A server can satisfy Bohemia’s policy and still breach a mod author’s separate EULA, so both checks are required before taking money.

The two conditions you must satisfy
Arma Reforger monetization is not a blanket permission for every privately hosted server. Bohemia Interactive’s published server-monetization policy limits the privilege to servers that have applied, received approval, and appear on Bohemia’s official server list. The application route is provided on the policy page at reforger.armaplatform.com/news/server-monetization. Treat approval as a continuing requirement, not a one-time exemption from other rights holders’ terms.

You need authorization for every third-party mod, asset, or package your server runs. A mod’s EULA or Workshop license can prohibit commercial use even when Bohemia has approved your server. The practical legal test is therefore cumulative:
- Your server is approved and listed by Bohemia.
- Your charges and perks do not affect gameplay.
- Every third-party package has written terms that permit your planned monetization, or you hold explicit written permission from its owner.
If any one of those conditions fails, stop the monetization plan until the issue is corrected.

What Bohemia’s policy allows
The policy permits several revenue models when they are applied to an approved, listed server and do not create a gameplay advantage. The categories below describe what is allowed in principle; the exact design of your offer still has to respect mod licenses and any conditions in your approval.

Bohemia states that it does not receive any of the income generated by a monetized server. That statement describes the money flow between Bohemia and the server owner; it does not remove your obligations to mod authors, payment providers, advertisers, or the law where you operate.
What counts as pay-to-win
Bohemia prohibits pay-to-win monetization. In practical terms, a player must not be able to purchase an advantage over a player who has not paid. The restriction covers direct sales and indirect perks such as donor ranks if the rank changes what a player can do during play.

Examples that cross the line
- Paid weapons, weapon variants, attachments, or ammunition.
- Paid ghillie suits or camouflage that makes a player harder to detect.
- Extra health, armor, stamina, speed, inventory capacity, or faster healing for paying players.
- Priority access to stronger factions, vehicles, spawn points, missions, or strategic information.
- Shorter cooldowns, accelerated progression, paid resources, or donor-only abilities that alter a match.
Examples that fit the non-gameplay boundary
- A visual clothing patch that does not change concealment, hitboxes, identification, or equipment.
- A supporter badge shown in a non-competitive profile or community roster.
- Access to a separate server or queue where the payment only determines entry and all players receive the same gameplay rules.
- A cosmetic event or themed visual treatment that has no mechanical effect.
When a cosmetic item could plausibly affect recognition or concealment, document why it is visual only. A patch that changes the color or pattern of a uniform may be treated differently from a decorative mark that has no effect on identification or camouflage. If the advantage is debatable, do not sell it without written clarification.
Donations: what “optional” must mean
Donations are permitted only when they remain voluntary. A server may thank donors with a cosmetic acknowledgment or community role, but the donation cannot be a prerequisite for content that other players can access. Calling a payment a “donation” does not change its character if the donor receives a gameplay advantage or mandatory access.
Before enabling a donation page, write down exactly what a donor receives. If the answer includes a weapon, attachment, ghillie suit, special vehicle, stronger class, better spawn, extra information, or faster progression, redesign the reward. If the answer is “nothing required for play,” the arrangement is much easier to keep within the policy, provided each mod license also permits it.

Advertising and sponsorship without creating a licensing problem
In-game advertising, product placement, and sponsorship are listed as permissible forms of monetization. You still need rights to use logos, artwork, music, names, and other supplied material. Keep sponsored content separate from gameplay logic: a banner, loading-screen placement, or community announcement should not grant a mechanical benefit to players who view or support it.
Record what the sponsor supplied, who owns it, where it appears, and how long the permission lasts. Remove the material when permission expires. This record is useful if Bohemia asks you to demonstrate that your commercial assets are authorized.
How to prepare and apply for approval
Approval is easier to defend when your design, content list, and records are complete before you submit an application. Use this sequence.
- Define the payment model. State whether you are charging for access, accepting voluntary donations, selling cosmetic recognition, or displaying advertising. Describe the player experience without marketing language.
- Separate access from advantage. Make a list of every benefit a paying player receives. Remove anything that affects combat, survivability, movement, concealment, progression, resources, or information.
- Inventory every package. Record each Workshop item, server-side addon, dependency, map, texture, sound, and script. Include items that do not appear as a player-facing feature; a license restriction can apply to the whole package.
- Read the current license. Check the mod page, included EULA, Workshop terms, and any linked author instructions. Save a dated copy or screenshot for your records, because licenses can change independently of Bohemia’s policy.
- Obtain written permission where needed. If a license is silent, restrictive, or ambiguous, ask the author for explicit permission covering your server, the planned monetization method, and the relevant dates. Keep the response with your server records.
- Submit the application through Bohemia’s website. Provide the server identity, monetization description, and any information requested in the current form. Do not begin charging while approval is pending unless the current policy explicitly says you may.
- Wait for listing. The policy ties permission to registration, approval, and appearance on Bohemia’s official server page. Check that your server is actually listed before turning on payments.
- Publish clear player terms. Explain prices, renewal or cancellation conditions, what a donation does and does not provide, and the absence of gameplay advantages. Keep the public description consistent with the approved design.
- Monitor changes. Recheck the Bohemia policy, your server listing, every mod license, and every sponsor permission whenever you add content or change the payment model.
Mod licenses can override your business plan
Bohemia’s approval does not grant you rights that belong to a mod author. A package can be technically compatible with your server and still forbid monetization. The restriction can apply to donations, donor rewards, subscriptions, advertising, or any other scheme that brings money to the server.

RHS: Status Quo
The RHS: Status Quo EULA is reported to prohibit running the package on servers with any monetization scheme, including systems that reward donations. Its terms state that Bohemia’s approval of a server-level or addon-level monetization arrangement does not exempt the server from that clause. If your planned server uses this package, obtain permission that changes the restriction or remove the package from the monetized server.
Other Workshop restrictions
Workshop packages can contain similar limits. Reported examples include Protocol Delta and Red Hammer Studios Creative Commons NonCommercial licenses, which bar monetized servers. A Shadow Haven Studios EULA also states that Bohemia approval does not override its restriction. These examples are warnings, not a complete list; the license attached to your exact version controls.
Workshop terms reportedly require custom mod licenses to prohibit commercial use and monetization. Read the custom license rather than assuming that a package is available for commercial server use because it can be downloaded or installed. Some licenses provide narrow exceptions—for example, permission limited to a named server community. An exception for one operator does not transfer to you.

What happens if you breach the policy
Bohemia may remove a server from the approved list if it exploits loopholes or acts against the community’s interests. Once removed, the server must stop monetizing immediately. The policy also refers to potential legal action. Treat delisting as a stop-work event: disable payment links, donor rewards, advertisements, and paid access until the issue is resolved and any required reapproval is obtained.

Keep an evidence folder containing licenses, permission emails, sponsor approvals, application details, and dates of every change.
A practical compliance checklist
- Is the server registered, approved, and visible on Bohemia’s official list?
- Does every payment buy access, a voluntary contribution, or a cosmetic/non-gameplay feature only?
- Have you excluded weapons, attachments, ghillie suits, stronger classes, better spawns, resources, information, and progression boosts?
- Have you inventoried every mod, dependency, map, asset, and server-side addon?
- Does each license permit monetization, or do you have written permission from the rights holder?
- Are sponsor logos, music, artwork, and product names cleared for the places and dates where you use them?
- Do your public prices and reward descriptions match the approved plan?
- Can you disable monetization immediately if Bohemia delists the server or a license changes?
Why old approval examples are unsafe to copy
Permissions can expire. ArmaConflict’s policy page described its monetization permission as pending Bohemia approval and valid through 31 May 2026. That date has passed, so it is not evidence that the permission remains active on 14 October 2026. Use such pages only as historical examples and verify any current authorization directly before relying on it.
There is no single permanent approval that covers future mods or future payment features. Recheck the official Bohemia page before launch and whenever you make a material change. Recheck each mod’s current license at the same time.
The safest way to design a monetized server
Start with a server that is enjoyable without payment. Make payment control entry to that server, voluntary support, or clearly cosmetic recognition—not power. Use a small, documented mod set with licenses you can explain. Obtain written permission for anything uncertain, submit a complete application, and wait for the server to appear on Bohemia’s list. That approach keeps the policy question, the mod-rights question, and the player-experience question aligned instead of treating one approval as a substitute for the others.
