ArkWeb is an experimental PC mod that puts Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered’s movement into Batman: Arkham Knight’s Gotham by running both games at once. It does not merge their engines into one game: custom code passes Gotham collision and grapple information to Spider-Man’s physics, then draws Spider-Man’s captured image in Arkham Knight’s view.
How ArkWeb connects the two games
According to the ArkWeb project README, the setup treats Spider-Man Remastered as a hidden guest and Arkham Knight as the host. The guest supplies Spider-Man and his camera; the host scans Gotham and supplies information about collision and grapple points.

A Python streamer turns the host’s Gotham data into collision tiles and sends them to Spider-Man’s physics world. The guest’s captured frame is then drawn into Arkham Knight’s view, while a hidden Batman puppet follows Spider-Man’s position. The README also describes converting coordinates between Unreal Engine 3’s Z-up centimeters and Spider-Man’s Y-up meters. In other words, this is a cross-game bridge between two running games—not a shared executable or a literal engine merger.

What you need to try it
The README’s stated requirements are specific; they are not the result of independent compatibility testing. It lists:
- Windows 10 x64 and a PC capable of running both games concurrently. The project documentation does not give a minimum processor, graphics card, or memory specification.
- Steam copies of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Batman: Arkham Knight.
- Spider-Man Remastered version 4.0630. The README says other builds refuse to hook.
- An Xbox-style controller.
- Visual Studio 2019 Build Tools and the Windows 10 SDK.
- Python 3.12 with
numpy, scipy, numba, pefile, andcapstonefor the build and streaming setup.
Because the stated setup specifically calls for Steam copies, do not assume a different edition or store release will work. Follow the repository’s setup and save/recovery directions rather than treating this like a conventional drop-in suit mod.

Known rough edges and risks
The creator characterizes ArkWeb as experimental, writing in the README: “Status: experimental. It works end to end but is a research project with rough edges.” The same documentation describes limitations that can affect play:
- Incomplete world collision: some Gotham buildings may be hollow, and fast movement into an unloaded district can create temporary gaps.
- Interrupted zips: a blocked grapple route can cut a zip short.
- Lighting mismatch: Spider-Man may look dark because his lighting follows New York’s time of day rather than Gotham’s.
- Combat differences: Arkham’s own freeflow system takes over during combat. Pose copying is incomplete and tied to the recorded suit skeleton, so combat animation transfer is not seamless.
- Save handling: Arkham Knight autosaves while Batman is being controlled as a puppet. The README includes save and recovery guidance; read and follow it before experimenting with the setup.
These caveats matter because ArkWeb coordinates two games rather than replacing Gotham’s game logic with Spider-Man’s. Movement, collision, presentation, and combat do not all behave as one unified system.

ArkWeb is not the older Spider-Man suit mod
A separate Nexus Mods Spider-Man listing, last updated September 5, 2024, adds Spider-Man as a new suit slot for Batman. That changes Batman’s appearance; it does not run Spider-Man Remastered alongside Arkham Knight or import Spider-Man’s movement into Gotham.
| Approach | What changes | Base games and setup | Stability evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nexus Mods suit-slot mod | Adds Spider-Man as a Batman suit slot. | The listing describes a suit mod for Arkham Knight; it does not describe the two-game bridge or specify the ArkWeb requirements. | No comparative stability test is established by the cited listing. |
| ArkWeb | Uses Spider-Man’s movement with Gotham data while showing the captured guest-game frame in the host view. | README lists Steam copies of both games, Spider-Man Remastered version 4.0630, and additional software and hardware requirements above. | The creator labels it experimental and documents rough edges; this is not a comparative test. |
Unofficial project, not a commercial release
ArkWeb’s README says it is an unofficial fan project and is not affiliated with Insomniac Games, Nixxes, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Rocksteady Studios, or Warner Bros. Games. It contains no game files, so anyone trying it needs their own copies of both games. Its unusual two-game setup makes it a notable technical experiment, but the documented status and limitations are a better guide to expectations than the headline idea of “merging” engines.
