Arjun Das confirmed that he met Farhan Akhtar and discussed Don 3, but said the project is not happening for him now. He did not say he had signed on or been officially cast. His remarks come amid uncertainty over the film following Ranveer Singh’s reported exit.
What Arjun Das said about Don 3
In comments to News18 reproduced by Hindustan Times on October 3, 2026, Das said he received a call from Akhtar, met him and discussed the film. “I was very, very fortunate to have received a call from Farhan sir. Das added that he hoped to work with Akhtar in the future, describing him as “one of the sweetest and most humble people I have met.” He also said, “It was supposed to happen, but now it’s not happening.” These remarks establish that talks took place, not that an agreement was finalized.
Was Arjun Das cast as the villain?
The Times of India reported on October 3, 2026 that Das was reportedly set to play the villain. That characterization is the outlet’s report; Das’s quoted comments confirm a meeting and discussion but do not confirm a villain role, a signed contract or an official casting announcement.

Why Don 3’s status remains unclear
Don 3 had been expected to star Ranveer Singh. Hindustan Times reported that Singh exited in December 2025 and described the project’s status as uncertain in its October 3, 2026 coverage. The reports do not establish that the film is definitively cancelled or that a replacement has been selected.
There has also been speculation about other casting possibilities. In February 2026, Hrithik Roshan said he had never been approached for the film, according to India Today. His statement was a denial of the approach rumor, not confirmation of any replacement casting.

Farhan Akhtar offered a broader note of caution in an April 2026 interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, quoted by Hindustan Times and India Today: “What I’ve learned is to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted until you actually have it on film.”

What has been reported about the disagreement
Coverage of Singh’s reported exit has described a disagreement and cited financial figures, but those claims remain attributed reporting rather than established legal or accounting findings. Hindustan Times has reported a compensation demand of around ₹45 crore and pre-production spending of about ₹40 crore; the coverage reviewed does not include primary legal or financial documentation establishing those figures as settled debts or verified production accounts. They should not be treated as proof of the project’s legal outcome or schedule.
