Google has made it easier to create and test native Android apps with AI Studio, while continuing to apply its existing Play policies and review safeguards. A possible Play Store area called “Your creations” has been spotted in app code, but it is unconfirmed and may never launch.
What Google has actually made easier
Google AI Studio can turn text prompts into native Android app builds. Reporting by Android Central describes an embedded emulator for previewing an app and a route to an internal Play testing track for people with a Play Developer account.
That lowers the effort needed to make a prototype and try it with testers. It does not, by itself, publish an app to the public Play Store, demonstrate that public submissions have surged, or bypass the ordinary publication process. Creating a build, testing it privately, and releasing it to users are distinct steps.
How the routes differ

What Google Play’s AI policy requires
The policy is about apps that generate content using AI, not every app whose code was assisted by AI. Google’s policy guidance covers apps whose central feature generates content from text, voice, or image prompts, including chatbots and image-generation apps. Developers are responsible for what those apps generate and must also meet the other applicable Play policies.

Google says developers must prevent prohibited output, including harmful content, scams that misuse real people’s voices or likenesses, deceptive election content, harassment, and malicious code. Its guidance states: “Developers are responsible for ensuring that their generative AI apps do not generate offensive content, including prohibited content listed under Google Play’s Inappropriate Content policies, content that may exploit or abuse children, and content that can deceive users or enable dishonest behaviors.” See Google Play Console Help’s AI-Generated Content policy.
Google describes some limited uses—such as apps that only host AI-generated content or use AI to improve an existing productivity feature—as outside this policy’s scope at this time. That does not exempt them from other Play policies. The relevant distinction is whether the app generates content for users, not simply whether AI helped write its code.

Google’s safeguards are real, but they are not a guarantee
In a 7 May 2026 update, Google described measures intended to help developers publish safer apps: expanded Play Policy Insights in Android Studio, pre-review checks, security and privacy tools, Play Integrity improvements, and new Play Academy courses for new developers. Google framed the work as making it “easier and faster than ever for millions of developers to publish safer apps.” The details are in the Android Developers Blog update.
These are guidance, tooling, and platform protections—not a promise that every submission will be safe or approved. Developers remain responsible for policy compliance, and Google Play retains its review and enforcement role.

What “Your creations” means—and why it is not a launch announcement
On 22 September 2026, Android Authority reported finding early “Your creations” interface strings in Play Store version 53.2.23-34. The outlet cautioned that features seen in an APK teardown may never ship. It also said the proposed area’s sharing model, registration, and testing requirements were not clear. Read the Android Authority report as evidence of interface work, not confirmation of a released feature.
Nothing in that report establishes a second app store, a special exemption from Play review, or an announced public home for AI Studio builds. Until Google confirms and documents such a feature, the standard distinction remains: a creator can experiment or test privately, but public distribution is governed by Play’s ordinary publishing process.

Do Google’s enforcement numbers show an AI-app surge?
No. Google reported that it prevented over 1.75 million policy-violating apps from being published on Google Play and banned more than 80,000 developer accounts for attempting to publish harmful apps in 2025. Those are broad ecosystem enforcement figures, not counts of AI-built or “vibe-coded” apps, and they do not show that such submissions are rising. Google’s figures appear in its 2025 Google Play and Android safety summary.
The reported AI Studio workflow makes more experimentation plausible, but the cited sources provide no count or forecast of vibe-coded submissions. Google’s safety measures and policy enforcement show how it says it is managing app risks; they are not evidence that a flood is imminent.
