What THUNDERCADE is
SETA released THUNDERCADE in 1987 as a forward-scrolling shooting game. You play a special-forces member riding a high-speed motorcycle fitted with machine guns and advance toward an enemy stronghold.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The defining weapon system is tied to the scenery. Destroying structures such as buildings reveals sidecar power-ups equipped with gun barrels. Sidecars do not all behave alike: some extend your bullet range, while others fire only sideways. Choosing when to collect one is therefore a tactical decision rather than a simple automatic upgrade; a side-firing weapon can be useful against threats approaching from the flanks but less effective against targets directly ahead.
What the Arcade Archives editions add
Standard Arcade Archives features
The original Arcade Archives release is designed as a faithful reproduction of the arcade game while adding practical modern options. Its feature set includes difficulty and screen settings, rewind, rapid-fire, multiple save slots, and global online rankings. Rewind lets you recover from a mistake without restarting an entire run, while save slots make it easier to practice difficult sections. Rapid-fire can reduce repeated button presses, and online rankings provide a way to compare scores internationally.

Arcade Archives 2 additions
Arcade Archives 2 THUNDERCADE includes the standard reproduction features and adds Time Attack Mode. It also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), a display feature intended to produce more consistent-feeling motion on compatible hardware and screens. The release includes Original, Hi Score, and Caravan modes, with Time Attack joining those established challenge formats.
VRR support does not make every television or monitor variable-refresh capable; the display and console setup must support the feature. Without compatible hardware, the game remains playable normally, but the VRR-specific benefit will not apply.

Which version should you buy?
- Choose Arcade Archives THUNDERCADE if you play on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 and want the lower $7.99 US price.
- Choose Arcade Archives 2 THUNDERCADE if your system is Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, or if Time Attack Mode and VRR support are priorities.
- Consider the reported $2.99 upgrade if your storefront offers an upgrade from the original Arcade Archives purchase and you want the Arcade Archives 2 feature set without buying the game again at full price.
Both editions are rated ESRB 10+ and support one or two players. The platform split is by console generation, not by different game campaigns: both versions present the same core motorcycle shoot ’em up and sidecar-power-up concept.

The announcement describes THUNDERCADE as a digital release. It does not list a cartridge, disc, physical collector’s edition, soundtrack, printed manual, or THUNDERCADE-specific merchandise. Anyone looking for a boxed copy should therefore treat the October 15 launch as digital-only unless a later announcement from HAMSTER confirms a separate physical product.
