Which smart-home setup suits each model?
Pick the W200 for its hub role
The W200’s distinguishing proposition is that it combines thermostat control with Aqara smart-home functions: Zigbee-device bridging, Matter controller capability, and a Thread Border Router. Aqara lists Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant connections. That may make it a more natural fit if you already use compatible Aqara devices or want those hub functions alongside a thermostat.
Do not assume that every device or feature works identically across those platforms. Confirm support for the exact devices and functions you rely on in the current product information before buying.

Consider ecobee for HVAC accessories and comfort features
ecobee describes Premium features for humidity-aware comfort and support for accessories including humidifiers, dehumidifiers, HRVs, and ERVs. It also advertises open-window alerts that can pause heating or cooling. Check the compatibility tool against your actual equipment; a general feature list does not confirm that a particular installation supports every accessory or behavior.
The available product information does not establish an equally scoped list of every smart-home platform currently supported by ecobee Premium. If platform integration is a deciding factor, verify ecobee’s current compatibility information rather than treating the W200’s published list as proof of a broader overall advantage.

Check HVAC compatibility and wiring before you buy
For the Aqara W200
- Use Aqara’s compatibility checker and select the wires attached to your existing thermostat base.
- Check the thermostat or system labeling. Aqara says the W200 is not compatible with thermostats labeled 110V or 120V; its stated power input is 24 VAC (18–30 VA).
- If the checker indicates your otherwise compatible system lacks a C-wire, account for Aqara’s separately sold C-Wire Adapter. The U.S. store listed it at $29.99 when accessed. Adapter and product information
For ecobee Premium
- Run ecobee’s thermostat compatibility check for your specific HVAC equipment and wiring.
- If you have a humidifier, dehumidifier, HRV, or ERV, confirm that your exact system and intended connection are supported.
If you cannot confidently identify your wiring or HVAC equipment, ask a qualified HVAC professional before purchasing or installing either thermostat. Aqara describes W200 installation as designed for self-installation and says a trim plate is included, but that is manufacturer guidance—not an independent assessment of installation difficulty. Do not infer wiring instructions from a feature list.
Compare the full cost, not just the thermostat price
At access, Aqara’s U.S. shop listed the W200 for $159.99, with its C-Wire Adapter at $29.99. ecobee’s U.S. page showed Premium for $209.99 on sale from $259.99. Prices can change with sales, geography, and retailer, so check the final price where you plan to buy.

The lower listed thermostat price does not settle which option costs less for your home. Add the adapter if your W200 installation needs one, and account for any sensor you want to buy. ecobee identifies a SmartSensor and a Smart Security subscription as requirements for some security functions; check the current listing and subscription terms to determine whether those functions matter to you.
