Instead of Open edX
Open edX alternatives
Open edX pairs course authoring in Studio with a learner-facing learning management system. Organizations can create, manage, reuse, and remix course content, while Aspects brings enrollment, progress, assessment, forum, and video-engagement data into metrics and visualizations. It supports assessments, certificates, SSO, mobile apps, API access, LTI 1.3 integrations, and extensible course components. The platform software is free, and organizations can self-host it or seek help from service partners.

The main tradeoff is the work required to run an instance: organizations must arrange hosting, infrastructure, maintenance, support, and customization. Open edX supports web, Android, iOS, API, and self-hosted use, but those options do not remove that responsibility. Alternatives may fit better when course sales, integrated payments, email marketing, branded mobile apps, or tools for running a training business are priorities. Weigh those business features and their costs against Open edX's course and analytics capabilities, and decide who will operate and support the platform after a switch.
