NeXium alternatives

NeXium is a free, open-source Nintendo Switch emulator for Windows, Linux, and Android. Its Vulkan graphics renderer supports several texture formats and effects, and users can switch between Dynarmic and Rustarmic CPU backends. It loads .nro homebrew with controller input, while its library offers artwork, metadata, profiles, favorites, and Quick Launch. On Android, it boots, renders, and plays audio on a real device.

NeXium remains in development: commercial-game play, saves, and per-title services vary, audio work is ongoing, and some Switch service commands receive compatibility defaults. Its platform range also excludes macOS and iOS. When comparing alternatives, consider which devices you need, whether you want a desktop, mobile, or browser-based option, and what each says about compatibility or development status. Graphics APIs, library controls, homebrew support, setup requirements, and whether you need to provide firmware or keys can also shape which emulator fits.
