Instead of gojq

gojq alternatives

gojq gives command-line users jq-style JSON queries for filtering, field selection, updates, and multiple input values. It also reads and writes YAML, performs arbitrary-precision integer arithmetic for several operations, and embeds in Go applications as a library. Go callers can compile queries for reuse and configure custom functions and iterators. The project is free, MIT-licensed, portable across Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted environments, with installation options including Homebrew, mise, Zero Install, source builds, and Docker images.

Readers may look elsewhere when gojq’s compatibility limits or terminal-first workflow do not fit. It does not preserve object-key order, provide keys_unsorted or --sort-keys, or parse jq’s NaN, Infinity, and leading-zero number extensions. Some regular-expression syntax, functions, and flags also differ from jq. Library users must manage queries that can emit endlessly or produce no output. When switching, compare query compatibility, supported formats, streaming, visual navigation, schema tools, privacy, platform coverage, and whether you need a Go library.
