Instead of Frigate
Frigate alternatives
Frigate is an open-source NVR for IP cameras that runs locally, with real-time object detection, motion-based recording, and alerts users can refine by camera zones. It supports 24/7 recording and retention based on detected objects, and integrates with Home Assistant, OpenHab, NodeRed, and MQTT systems. Its free plan covers the core NVR; Frigate+ costs $50 per year for access to models and fine-tuning features.

A different option may fit better if you need managed cloud APIs, moderation or video metadata, operational analytics, or security workflows beyond a home NVR. Frigate’s supported setup centers on Docker hosts, with Debian-based bare metal recommended; Windows is not officially supported. Its authentication also does not natively support OIDC, SAML, or LDAP, and Frigate+ does not yet support custom labels. When switching, weigh whether you need local camera processing or cloud services, your camera and deployment environment, the kinds of events you want to detect, and the alternative’s pricing and integrations.
