Instead of Blazam
Blazam alternatives
Blazam gives organizations a free, open-source way to delegate Active Directory administration beyond the IT team. It covers users, groups, organizational units, computers, and printers, including unlocks, password resets, group assignments, and attribute changes. Reusable access levels govern individual actions and attributes, while event- or schedule-based rules automate directory work. A REST API, webhooks, MFA options, multiple database choices, and Windows or Linux deployment support connected, self-hosted operations.

The product is built around a specific environment. It requires Active Directory, a domain-joined Windows host, and a carefully structured OU hierarchy for granular delegation. Installation on a Domain Controller is not recommended, and API tokens inherit an existing Blazam user's permissions. Teams may instead need password-only self-service, LDAP coverage, Microsoft Entra or Microsoft 365 administration, auditing, or broader access routes. Compare directory scope, delegation, recovery methods, automation, deployment, platform coverage, and the cost of moving from a free license.
