Applitools’ general free access is described in its current Terms of Service as a Free Trial Service, with up to 100 visual checkpoints per month per permitted user. A checkpoint is one execution of a visual validation, so rerunning a validation uses another checkpoint. The terms also default to one permitted user and one concurrent execution per user; they do not establish a separate, always-free public plan.

How many Applitools checkpoints are included?

The current Applitools Terms of Service states that the Free Trial Service includes up to 100 visual checkpoints per month for each permitted user. The cap is per user, not a shared team pool, and the terms normally allow one specific user. Check the terms attached to your account or order before relying on a different entitlement.

What counts as a checkpoint?

One execution of a visual validation counts as one checkpoint. A test that performs several visual validations can therefore consume several checkpoints, and executing the same validation again consumes another. Plan around validations actually executed, rather than the number of test files or test cases alone.

Is Applitools free forever?

The available official terms call the access a free trial, while Applitools’ pricing page invites visitors to start a free trial and shows paid tiers. These sources do not establish a generally available, always-free plan with a separate public allowance. Trial availability and account-specific terms can change, so confirm the offer shown when you sign up.

Who can use the trial, and how much can run at once?

Unless an order form specifies otherwise, the Terms of Service limits a permitted user to one concurrent execution. Applitools defines concurrent executions as simultaneously opening more than one test from the account. The terms also normally authorize one specific user and prohibit sharing account credentials; do not treat a single trial login as a team seat.

What happens if you exceed the limit?

Under the current Terms of Service, Applitools may reduce functionality or performance until a breach is corrected. If checkpoint or concurrency breaches occur more than three times, it may terminate the agreement immediately. This is a contractual consequence, not a published automatic per-checkpoint overage price.

How does the Storybook beta differ?

A separate Applitools Storybook SDK Beta agreement describes 50,000 monthly checkpoints during the beta period. That allowance applies only to the Eyes Storybook SDK beta and does not provide free Selenium or other SDK access. It is not the standard Free Trial Service allowance, and beta-specific terms govern its scope.

What does a paid plan cost?

At the time the official pricing page was accessed in 2026, it displayed Starter at $667 per month, paid annually, with either 100,000 component checkpoints or 1,000 page checkpoints. The page also lists Professional and Enterprise tiers. Treat these as the page’s displayed offer, not a guaranteed quote: pricing and eligibility can change, so verify the current page and the plan details offered to your account.

How to plan a trial without wasting checkpoints

  • Count each visual validation execution in your test suite, including repeats and reruns.
  • Estimate monthly usage from the validations your workflow actually executes; a test run with multiple validations uses multiple checkpoints.
  • Schedule parallel work with the default one-concurrent-execution limit in mind, unless your applicable order or beta terms say otherwise.
  • Have each authorized person use their own permitted access rather than sharing credentials.
  • Before adopting the allowance for a team-wide or production workflow, confirm the limits displayed in your account and the terms that apply to it.

Troubleshooting a checkpoint-limit message

“Checkpoint Limit Exceeded”

Applitools’ Figma plugin documentation says this error can mean the account has reached the maximum for its current plan. It does not define one universal allowance for every plan. Check the account’s plan and usage information, confirm the applicable limit, and contact Applitools if the displayed usage does not explain the message.

A run is blocked while another test is running

The trial terms default to one concurrent execution per permitted user. Avoid opening or executing multiple tests simultaneously under that access, or confirm whether an applicable order form changes the limit.

If your goal is to capture a website screenshot rather than run visual-regression assertions inside an Applitools test workflow, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first: it provides a screenshot API and MCP server, removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots—not bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, or cache hits. AI agents can capture through its MCP server. Here is a one-request screenshot example; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options.
