Applied Digital has brought 75 megawatts (MW) of additional capacity online at its Polaris Forge 1 data center campus in Ellendale, North Dakota. The phase is now ready for service and was delivered to its customer on schedule, according to Data Center Dynamics (DCD) on July 2, 2026. DCD reported that the campus had 175 MW of live capacity after the milestone, compared with 400 MW of critical IT load contracted for delivery at full build-out.

What the 75 MW milestone covers

The reported 75 MW is Phase I of Building 2 at Polaris Forge 1—not the entire second building or the whole campus. DCD says the phase reached ready-for-service status and delivered operational capacity to its customer on schedule. “Ready for service” marks the reported delivery milestone; it does not, by itself, show how intensively the capacity is being used.

Applied Digital CEO Wes Cummins said the phase was delivered on time and credited coordination among construction, engineering, operations, procurement, development and corporate teams. His comments were reported by DCD.

How 75 MW fits into the campus figures

The figures describe different stages and measures. DCD’s July 2, 2026 account puts live campus capacity at 175 MW after the new phase. It separately describes 400 MW as the critical IT load Polaris Forge 1 is contracted to deliver at full build-out. The 400 MW figure is therefore a future, full-build contractual total—not current live capacity.

Figure What it describes
75 MW Operational capacity delivered in Phase I of Building 2, as reported by DCD on July 2, 2026.
175 MW Live capacity at the Ellendale campus after that phase, according to DCD on July 2, 2026.
400 MW Critical IT load contracted for delivery at full campus build-out, according to DCD’s July 2026 account.

These numbers do not establish utilization, electricity consumption, or performance. The cited reports also do not identify the specific server or cooling equipment installed for the 75 MW phase.

What CoreWeave’s agreement says—and when

The customer relationship has been described in different terms over time. In a June 2, 2025 announcement, Applied Digital said it had signed two approximately 15-year leases with CoreWeave for 250 MW of critical IT load at Ellendale; CoreWeave also held an option for a further 150 MW. Applied Digital described Polaris Forge 1 as designed to host 400 MW of critical IT load in that company announcement.

DCD’s July 2026 report gives a later update: CoreWeave subsequently expanded its commitment to take all Polaris Forge 1 capacity under an agreement DCD characterized as worth $11 billion over 15 years. That figure applies to the expanded campus agreement as reported by DCD; it is not revenue reported from the single 75 MW phase.

What the announcement does not establish

A capacity delivery is not the same as proof that the capacity is fully occupied or drawing a particular amount of power. The cited coverage does not state the phase’s utilization, electricity consumed, revenue recognized from it, or the present-day completion status of remaining campus phases. The 400 MW full-build figure should not be read as evidence that all of that capacity is already operational.
