Apple launched a redesigned App Store website on November 3, 2025, giving anyone with a browser a central place to discover apps and games across Apple platforms. You can search listings, browse categories and recommendations, inspect screenshots and details, and share app pages. At launch, however, the website did not let visitors download apps directly; installation handed off to the native App Store instead.
Can you browse the Apple App Store on the web?
Yes. Apple’s redesigned storefront is available at apps.apple.com. The launch was reported by TechCrunch and MacRumors on November 3, 2025.
Before the redesign, Apple exposed individual app pages on the web but did not offer a comparable central browsing experience. The new interface turns the website into a storefront for discovery, including for people using Windows PCs or other non-Apple devices.
What the web storefront includes
Platform and category browsing
Visitors can select Apple platforms and move through app categories rather than relying only on a direct link or a name search. This makes it possible to explore software by device type and subject.

Today recommendations and Apple Arcade
A Today area presents app and game recommendations. The site also surfaces Apple Arcade titles, giving subscription-game discovery a web location.
Search and web-optimized listings
App pages are formatted for browser viewing and include screenshots and listing information. Pages can be shared, which is useful when sending an app recommendation to someone who is not currently in the App Store app.

Opening a listing in the native App Store
When the native App Store is installed, a listing can be opened there for the device’s normal installation flow. The website therefore works as a discovery and handoff layer rather than a replacement for every native-store action.
Can you download apps from Apple’s App Store website?
Not according to TechCrunch’s launch report. Direct web downloads were unavailable when the redesigned interface launched. MacRumors likewise described opening listings in the native App Store rather than installing from the browser.

That is a launch-era limitation, not proof that Apple has never changed the behavior. The available reporting does not verify a later change, so treat installation as a native-App-Store step unless the current listing and your device explicitly offer another option.
Can you find iPhone apps from a Windows PC?
Yes, for discovery. A Windows user can open Apple’s web storefront, search for an iPhone app, review its description and screenshots, and share the page. The evidence does not establish that a Windows browser can remotely install the app to an iPhone or iPad, nor that the site recognizes a signed-in device list for that purpose.

The reports document the feature inventory, but they do not provide a measured usability test comparing the two experiences. The practical distinction is clear: use the website to discover, inspect, and share; use the native App Store for the installation path described at launch.
