Apple has released the third developer beta of iOS 27.2. Its developer release listing names it iOS 27.2 beta 3 (24B5099f) and dates it October 5, 2026. Apple’s published materials don’t separate beta 3’s changes from earlier 27.2 betas, so this article treats the release notes as notes for the 27.2 beta cycle as a whole.

SDK and tooling
According to Apple’s iOS and iPadOS 27.2 beta release notes, the iOS 27.2 SDK supports app development for iPhone and iPad running the beta. It is bundled with Xcode 27.2. Apple Developer news says the beta versions are available. It asks developers to confirm their apps work as expected and to build and test with Xcode 27.2.
The release notes state their purpose this way: “Update your apps to use new features, and test your apps against API changes.” (Apple Developer Documentation)

What Apple documents in the 27.2 beta notes
The items below are entries in the 27.2 beta documentation. Apple’s materials don’t say which ones first appeared in beta 3 and which were already present in earlier betas.
App Tracking Transparency in the EU
App Tracking Transparency now supports an alternative expanded prompt and yearly re-prompting for EU users. Apple says the alternative prompt is required for users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania. Developers who serve those markets should check how their tracking flows behave under the new prompt.

These are Apple’s beta notes. They don’t claim that every user or device is affected.
StoreKit testing in Xcode
Apple lists three fixes for SKTestSession:
- Intro-offer eligibility now resets correctly after transactions are cleared.
- Storefront or locale changes now propagate through
Storefront.updates. - Failed purchases no longer show error dialogs when
dialogsDisabledis set.
There is also a known issue. Purchasing in-app a subscription that belongs to a subscription bundle incorrectly allows unbundling instead of raising an error. If your tests cover bundled subscriptions, don’t rely on that result.

What beta 3 changes compared with beta 2
Apple’s release listing confirms the build and date. The 27.2 notes cover the beta cycle in general. Neither source gives a beta 3 versus beta 2 comparison, so anything more specific would be a guess. For a diff, compare your own app’s behavior across the two builds.

Yes. Apple’s guidance is to build and test with Xcode 27.2. Pay the most attention if your app uses ATT in EU markets, StoreKit subscriptions or intro offers, or Shortcuts and Health integrations. Because this is a developer beta, run it on a secondary device rather than your main iPhone.
