No—Apple does not provide a setting to turn off ads in Apple Maps. Apple says its Personalized Ads control does not apply to Maps. Changing Maps location access is not a documented way to remove ads and can disable location-dependent features such as turn-by-turn navigation.
Does turning off Personalized Ads stop Apple Maps ads?
No. Apple states that the Personalized Ads setting is not supported on Apple Maps. That control concerns ads in the App Store, Apple News, and Stocks; switching it off does not turn off ads in Maps, and Apple notes it may not reduce the number of ads in those other apps. Apple Ads’ Maps privacy page explains that Maps ads are selected using contextual information during a session, while Apple Support’s Personalized Ads instructions describe the scope of the general setting.

What affects the ads Apple Maps shows?
Apple says Maps ad selection may use contextual signals such as your search terms, the area of the map you are viewing, your device language and type, operating-system version, and time of day. If you permit Maps to access your location, Apple says it may use approximate location to show geographically relevant ads. Apple says it does not use precise location or Maps interaction history to select Maps ads. These are Apple’s stated practices, not an independent audit. See Apple’s Maps advertising privacy policy.

Would changing Maps location access remove ads?
Apple does not document location access as an ad-off switch. You can change whether Maps accesses your location in your device’s Location Services settings, but doing so changes location-related functionality; Apple warns that features such as turn-by-turn navigation may become unavailable. Treat this as a privacy and functionality choice, not a way to remove ads. Apple describes the location controls and their effects in its Location Services guidance.

What can you do instead?
- Turn off Personalized Ads if you want to adjust ads in its supported apps. It will not disable Apple Maps ads.
- Review Maps location permission only if you want to limit location access. Weigh the privacy choice against navigation and other location-dependent features.
- Identify paid placements in Maps. Apple says ads carry an “Ad” mark and a distinct place icon. Tapping the mark lets you review information used to serve that ad. Apple also says information about Maps ads viewed or tapped is tied to a rotating random identifier rather than an Apple Account; this describes Apple’s stated privacy model.
Apple’s documentation does not establish a complete country-by-country list of where Maps ads are available, so availability may vary. Settings labels can also differ by device and operating-system version.
