Amazon U.S. deal reports on October 5–6, 2026, put the Apple Mac mini M5 Pro with 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD at $1,549.99, down from a cited $1,699 list price—a $149.01 difference. That clears the “over $100 off” threshold, but it is a dated offer, not confirmation of today’s price or stock. Check the Amazon listing before buying.
What the Amazon deal included
The reported $1,549.99 price was for the base M5 Pro configuration: a 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD. Mashable, in a report syndicated by Yahoo Tech, named that price on October 5; Macworld reported the same configuration and amount on October 6. AppleInsider also covered the offer and rounded the savings to $150. The exact difference between $1,699 and $1,549.99 is $149.01.

Which Mac mini configuration was discounted?
Apple lists two M5 Pro Mac mini configurations. The reported deal was the 24GB/512GB model, not the higher-capacity model with 64GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. Apple’s buying page lists both options: Mac mini configurations.

The discounted model is the lower-priced starting configuration, but its specifications still place it above the standard M6 Mac mini in some areas. Macworld’s October 6 U.S. comparison listed the M6 starting at $899, with 16GB of memory, up to 32GB, up to 2TB of storage and Thunderbolt 4. Its M5 Pro comparison listed 24GB of memory, configurable up to 64GB, up to 8TB of storage and Thunderbolt 5; the M5 Pro base list price was $1,699. Those are the publication’s reported U.S. figures and can change.
Is the M5 Pro a better buy than the M6?
Not for every buyer. The M5 Pro offers more CPU and GPU cores at the top of its range, a higher memory ceiling and Thunderbolt 5, which can matter for demanding, sustained workloads or a setup that needs the newer interface. Macworld also reported the M6 ahead in the specific single-core CPU and quantized Neural Engine tests it discussed. That does not establish a universal winner across applications or workloads.

Choose based on what you actually run and connect: sustained multicore CPU or GPU work, how much memory you need, storage capacity, port requirements, single-core responsiveness, AI workload and total price. A discount on the M5 Pro does not automatically make it the better value if an M6 configuration already meets your needs.

Apple lists a 16-core Neural Engine for the M5 Pro and describes Apple Intelligence support on its Mac mini comparison page. Apple also says Siri AI is in beta in macOS 27; it requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language and is available in English to start. Software features and language availability are subject to Apple’s qualifications.

Those specifications and compatibility statements do not show that the M5 Pro is best for every AI task or establish its performance on a particular local model. The reported deal coverage did not supply independent AI benchmarks, so treat “AI-friendly” as a description of supported hardware and software features, not a measured performance ranking.

- Open the Amazon U.S. listing and verify it is the M5 Pro model with 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD.
- Check the live price, seller, stock status and delivery options. The October 5–6 reports do not verify today’s checkout page.
- Compare the displayed price with a clearly identified list price; recalculate the savings if either figure has changed.
- Confirm that the configuration’s memory, storage and ports suit your workload. If you need the 64GB/1TB configuration, this reported offer does not describe that model.
- Remember that the Mac mini is a desktop computer: a monitor, keyboard and mouse are needed if you do not already have compatible peripherals.
