How much more does the iPhone 17 cost?

At the official China-market listed starting prices accessed on 2026-10-05, the iPhone 17 is RMB 2,200 more expensive: RMB 6,799 compared with RMB 4,599 for the vivo X300 12 GB + 256 GB. Where the X300 and iPhone 17 differ most

Camera hardware and video formats

The X300 has three specified rear cameras, including a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom. Its listed pixel counts are higher across the rear array than the iPhone 17’s. Apple’s phone instead lists 48 MP main and ultrawide cameras and optical-quality 2× telephoto framing from the main-camera system. Apple also specifies 4K Dolby Vision recording up to 60 fps; the cited X300 specifications state recording up to 4K but do not make an equivalent Dolby Vision claim. These differences describe camera hardware and supported modes, not which phone takes better photos or video: the published figures do not establish comparative image quality.

#1 Best Overall
Apple iPhone 17, US Version, 256GB, eSIM, Lavender- Unlocked (Renewed Premium)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
  • When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Display

The display diagonals and maximum refresh rates are close: 6.3 inches and up to 120 Hz for iPhone 17, versus 6.31 inches and adaptive 1–120 Hz for X300. vivo lists a slightly higher pixel resolution, but resolution alone does not prove that a screen looks better. Apple publishes an outdoor peak-brightness figure of up to 3,000 nits; the cited vivo page does not provide a directly comparable peak-brightness number.

Battery and charging

vivo specifies a 6040 mAh typical-capacity battery and 90 W wired / 40 W wireless charging. Apple instead advertises up to 30 hours of video playback and says iPhone 17 can reach up to 50% charge in 20 minutes with a suitable high-power USB-C adapter. These are different kinds of claims: capacity and charging wattage do not show how long a phone lasts under matched use, and Apple’s charging estimate depends on the adapter. No like-for-like endurance or charging test is established by these published specifications.

  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Software and ecosystem

The listed software differs as much as the hardware: iPhone 17 runs iOS 26, while this China-market X300 uses OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. The better fit depends on the apps, services, devices and interface a buyer prefers; a specification sheet cannot decide that preference.

Which phone makes more sense for you?

  • Consider the X300 if the China-market price and its listed hardware matter most to you, especially the dedicated 3× telephoto camera, high-wattage charging or stated 6040 mAh typical capacity.
  • Consider iPhone 17 if you prefer iOS, want Apple’s specified Dolby Vision video modes, or value Apple’s published display and playback claims.
  • Compare local prices and warranty before deciding: the RMB 2,200 difference above applies to official China-market listings, not necessarily the prices available where you live.
  • Assess real camera and battery performance from testing relevant to your own use. Megapixels, battery capacity and vendor playback claims are not substitutes for matched comparisons.

Check carefully before importing a China-market X300

The vivo specifications cited here are for the China-market model. Its product page lists dual nano-SIM and regional network bands, and notes that network capabilities depend on carrier deployment and software version. Before importing, confirm compatibility with your carrier’s bands and services, warranty coverage in your country, and the software region and features you will receive. See vivo’s X300 specifications for the listed variant details.

Launch timing and source context

Apple announced iPhone 17 on 2025-09-10, with China sales beginning 2025-09-19. vivo’s product page identifies the X300 launch month as 2025-10. Apple’s promotional announcement quoted product marketing vice president Kaiann Drance describing iPhone 17 as a substantial upgrade and highlighting its display, battery, A19 chip and camera system; those are Apple’s characterizations, not independent findings.
