The A15 Bionic is Apple’s 5-nanometer system-on-chip, introduced with the iPhone 13 generation in 2021. It combines a six-core CPU, a device-specific GPU configuration and a 16-core Neural Engine. There is no single definitive benchmark score for every A15 device: results depend on the phone, operating-system build, benchmark version and whether the number is one submitted run or an aggregate.
What are the A15 Bionic specifications?
Apple’s September 14, 2021 launch announcement describes the A15 Bionic as built using 5-nanometer technology and containing nearly 15 billion transistors. For iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, Apple specifies a six-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, a four-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine rated at up to 15.8 trillion operations per second. Apple’s announcement and the iPhone 13 mini technical specifications provide the published configuration.

What Geekbench scores does the A15 get?
Geekbench results are measurements from particular devices and software versions, not a fixed specification guaranteed for the chip. Keep CPU single-core, CPU multi-core and GPU/Metal numbers separate; they measure different workloads.

| Device and result type | Benchmark and software context | Single-core | Multi-core | GPU / Metal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 13 mini; device-chart aggregate | Geekbench 6 user-submitted results; chart values at the time retrieved | 1,977 | 5,020 | 14,595 |
| iPhone 13; one submitted run | Geekbench 6.5.1 on iOS 26.2; uploaded January 21, 2026 | 2,330 | 5,255 | Not stated in the cited result |
The iPhone 13 mini values come from the Geekbench 6 device chart, which aggregates submitted results. The iPhone 13 figures are from one Geekbench Browser submission. A chart aggregate and an individual run are different kinds of evidence, and the results above use different device models and, for the individual submission, a specified Geekbench version and OS build. They should not be averaged or treated as a controlled head-to-head comparison.
How should you interpret Apple’s launch performance claims?
At launch, Apple said the A15 CPU was “up to 50 percent faster than the competition” and the four-core GPU was “up to 30 percent faster than the competition.” These are Apple’s 2021 claims, not universal results: the cited announcement does not name a specific competing device, benchmark suite or test conditions that would make either percentage independently reproducible. Apple’s announcement also attributes a statement about the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini to Greg Joswiak, then senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

What to check when comparing A15 benchmark results
- Separate workload types: compare CPU single-core with CPU single-core, and multi-core with multi-core. Keep GPU/Metal results in their own category.
- Check the benchmark version: scores from different Geekbench versions are not automatically comparable.
- Identify the device: record the iPhone model and its chip configuration rather than assuming every A15 device is identical.
- Record the OS: an operating-system build is part of the context for a submitted result.
- Distinguish one run from an aggregate: an individual submission is not the same as a device chart aggregating many submissions.
- Label the source of the claim: Apple’s launch comparisons are company claims; Geekbench Browser figures are submitted benchmark results.
Is the A15 Bionic sold separately?
The A15 Bionic is integrated into devices rather than presented in these sources as a standalone consumer purchase. Apple’s cited A15-equipped examples are iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini; this article does not establish current availability or pricing for either model.
