Which Apex and Manik power supplies are recalled?

What is the safety hazard?

The recalled supplies are missing a permanent, on-product warning label identifying potential electrical shock and electrocution hazards if the power supply is opened or disassembled. The CPSC says that omission poses a risk of serious injury or death if the unit is opened.

This is a warning-label recall, not an announcement of a performance defect. That description does not make an affected unit a reason to continue using it: the CPSC instructs consumers to stop using recalled units immediately and obtain the manufacturer’s remedy.

What to do if you own one

  1. Stop using the computer or standalone PSU. Do not continue operating an affected unit while arranging service.
  2. Do not remove the power supply’s cover or attempt a repair. Apex states: “DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ATTEMPT TO OPEN, DISASSEMBLE, OR SERVICE THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT.”
  3. Contact Apex through its current recall page or support channels. Give the brand, wattage, and whether the supply is installed in an Apex PC or was purchased separately.
  4. Follow Apex’s instructions for the free remedy. Case-specific eligibility, shipping arrangements, and processing times should be confirmed directly with Apex rather than assumed.

Remedy What happens Who may prefer it
Permanent warning label Apex mails a permanent, UL-recognized, heat-resistant adhesive label with ANSI-compliant “Danger/Warning” shock-hazard and “No User-Serviceable Parts” warnings for the owner to apply according to Apex’s instructions. Owners who are comfortable applying the official label exactly as directed.
Replacement power supply Available for consumers who are uncomfortable applying the label. The CPSC says Apex will install replacement units at no charge and provide free round-trip shipping for affected PCs and power supplies. Owners who want Apex to handle the corrective work or who do not want to apply a label themselves.

Use only the remedy supplied or authorized by Apex. A generic sticker, third-party replacement, repair tool, or self-directed PSU repair is not a substitute for the recall process.

Does “no incidents reported” mean the PSU is safe?

No. The CPSC notice said no incidents or injuries had been reported when it was issued. Health Canada likewise reported no incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States as of March 21, 2026. Those statements describe reports received by those dates; they are not a guarantee that an affected unit can be safely opened or that the recall can be ignored.

How to check a desktop without opening the PSU

Look only for external information that can be viewed without removing the power supply’s cover or tampering with it. Check whether the unit is branded Apex or Manik and whether its rating is 450W, 750W, 1000W, or 1200W. If the supply is inside an Apex computer and you cannot confidently identify it, stop using the computer and ask Apex for identification and remedy instructions.

What the recall does—and does not—establish

Apex describes the recall as addressing missing hazard labeling rather than a performance defect. The CPSC’s stated hazard is the risk created when the unit is opened or disassembled without the required warning. The notices do not establish that every use condition is risk-free, and they do not authorize owners to service the supply themselves.
