For a compatible nearby Windows PC, Quick Share can send them wirelessly. Account-based music access is different: it does not necessarily put local files in the tablet’s storage.
Choose the method that matches where you want the music

Google’s Android Help describes USB file transfer for Windows and Chromebook, and points to Google Drive for files and YouTube Music for music access. Copy music with a USB cable
- Unlock the tablet and connect it to the computer with a USB cable that supports data transfer.
- On the tablet, tap the notification that says it is charging via USB.
- Under Use USB for, select File Transfer.
- On Windows, open the file-transfer window that appears and drag the music files into the tablet. On Chromebook, open the Files app and copy the tracks to the tablet.
- On Windows, eject the tablet before disconnecting the cable.
These are Google’s general Windows and Chromebook steps; menu wording and availability can vary by Android version and device. Google notes that some steps work only on Android 14 or later. Where should the files go?
Copy the tracks into a folder on the tablet that you can find later, such as its music folder if one is available. When the transfer finishes, open the tablet’s file manager to confirm the files are present, then check your music app. App behavior varies, so a successful file copy does not guarantee that every app will index the tracks immediately.

Send music wirelessly with Quick Share
Quick Share is an option for sending files from a compatible Windows PC to an Android tablet that is nearby. Google’s Windows requirements include a 64-bit PC running Windows 10 or later and an Android device running Android 6.0 or later; ARM-based Windows PCs require Windows 11 or later. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi or Ethernet must be enabled. Availability can differ by country and computer type, and Samsung PCs use Samsung’s app instead of Google’s Quick Share app. Check Google’s current requirements for your devices before setting it up. - Install and open the Quick Share app on the Windows PC.
- On the tablet, make sure Quick Share receiving is enabled and the device is discoverable.
- In the Windows Quick Share app, select the music files, choose the tablet, and complete the share. Accept the transfer on the tablet if prompted.
Android’s visibility options include the user’s own devices, contacts, and temporary visibility to everyone. Choose a setting that lets your PC find the tablet, then restore a more private setting if you do not want the tablet discoverable. Google’s Quick Share guidance

Fix common transfer problems
The tablet only charges over USB
- Unlock the tablet and change Use USB for to File Transfer.
- Try another cable. Google warns that not all USB cables transfer files; a cable must support data, not just charging. Google Android Help
Windows does not detect the tablet
Check whether Windows detects new hardware. If it does not, restart the computer or tablet, then try another USB cable or port, as Google recommends. Google Android Help

- Check that the tablet is discoverable and Bluetooth is enabled.
- Confirm Wi-Fi or Ethernet is enabled and review network conditions.
- Keep the computer and tablet nearby.
- Check whether the tablet needs to accept the incoming transfer.

What about a Mac?
The Google guidance cited here provides detailed USB steps for Windows and Chromebook, but does not establish the current Mac procedure. Do not assume the Windows file-transfer window or Chromebook Files workflow applies to macOS. Check instructions for the specific tablet and macOS version before relying on a wired method; Quick Share for Windows is not a Mac transfer option.
