Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026, with availability starting September 18. In the U.S., Apple lists them from $1,199 and $1,299. We found no confirmation of a standard iPhone 18 in the sources we reviewed, so only the Pro models are established. If you want to look at Android instead, “better” depends on what you value: price, size, camera reach, a folding screen, or software support. Here is how six Android phones compare on those points.
What Apple is actually selling
Apple describes the iPhone 18 Pro as having a 48MP main camera with variable aperture, new camera controls and the A20 Pro chip. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: “With iPhone 18 Pro, we’ve made advancements to the areas our users care about most: camera, performance, battery, and intelligence.” That is Apple’s own characterization. It isn’t independent evidence about how the phone compares with rivals.

| Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra | $1,299.99 | Big screen, zoom versatility, privacy display | Larger and pricier than the iPhone 18 Pro |
| Samsung Galaxy S26 | $899.99 | Smaller flagship at a lower price | Weaker camera and sustained performance than bigger flagships |
| Motorola Razr Ultra (2026) | $1,499.99 | Folding form factor | Less camera versatility, high price, older processor |
| Nothing Phone 4a Pro | $499 | Lower budget, distinctive design | Mid-range, not a feature-for-feature premium rival |

The options in detail
Google Pixel 11 Pro: the closest compact alternative
Android Authority calls the Pixel 11 Pro the closest overall alternative. It reports a peak brightness of 3,600 nits, Android 17, a 4,850mAh battery, a $1,099 MSRP and a seven-year OS update promise. Its strengths are a compact premium build, clean software, cameras and Google AI features. The publication notes that earlier Tensor generations had performance and thermal problems. Its author says recent use of the Pixel 11 series turned up no major issues. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a lab result.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: big screen and camera flexibility
At about $1,299.99, the S26 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display, a built-in privacy display and the widest focal-length and zoom flexibility in this group. It costs more than the iPhone 18 Pro and is bigger. It suits people who will use those features, not everyone looking for a replacement. We have not named its chip, because the source’s own passages disagree on the generation.

- Carrier: This phone is locked to Tracfone, which means this device can only be used on the Tracfone wireless network. Tracfone plan required, activating is easy, just 3 steps.
- DISPLAY: Immersive viewing on a 6.7-inch super-bright 120Hz display with powerful stereo speakers and Bass Boost for cinematic entertainment.
- CAMERA SYSTEM: Advanced 50MP Quad Pixel camera captures sharp, detailed photos and videos in any lighting condition
- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
Samsung Galaxy S26: the manageable Samsung flagship
The S26 lists at about $899.99. Android Authority reports it weighs 167 grams, is IP68 rated and has a seven-year OS update promise. The author says it keeps flagship performance in a smaller body. The compromises are camera capability and sustained performance compared with larger flagships. It is the simplest Samsung pick if you want a smaller phone and a lower entry price.

Motorola Razr Ultra (2026): the foldable
At $1,499.99, the Razr Ultra is the most expensive phone here. Its cover screen handles notifications, messages, music controls and Maps without opening the phone, and it unfolds to a full-size inner display. Android Authority notes 165Hz displays, and lists camera versatility, price and an older processor as drawbacks. Choose it for the form factor, not as a like-for-like slab phone replacement.

Nothing Phone 4a Pro: the budget pick
At $499, the Phone 4a Pro offers distinctive styling, Nothing OS and performance suited to browsing, messaging, streaming and social apps. It is less than half the price of an iPhone 18 Pro, and that gap shows up in its tier. It makes sense if you want something different for much less.
OnePlus 15: battery and performance
TechRadar’s OnePlus guide calls the OnePlus 15 the best premium OnePlus phone. It runs Android 16 with OxygenOS 16, has a 7,300mAh battery and three 50MP rear cameras. The guide lists the lack of carrier contract availability as a drawback. The page gives a December 2025 release date, so confirm availability in your region before choosing it.

The Bottom Line
Android has no single “better” phone. It has better fits for particular priorities. The Pixel 11 Pro is the closest match for most iPhone 18 Pro shoppers. The other five make sense only if you specifically want their size, price or form factor.
