A new leak sketches a graphics-focused direction for AMD’s rumored Ryzen Z3 handheld chip, but AMD has not confirmed the configuration or named any devices that will use it. TweakTown reported on October 1, 2026, that leaker Gotou_3rd described a possible four-core-plus-two-low-power-core CPU layout and 12 RDNA 4m compute units; the CPU arrangement may change. TweakTown’s report is the basis for the rumor, not an AMD announcement.
What the Ryzen Z3 leak says
TweakTown attributes the following abbreviated description to Gotou_3rd: “same IP, semi-customized, FF6 25x25mm package. 4c+2lp (maybe changed) 12CU.” The report interprets “4c+2lp” as four standard CPU cores and two low-power cores, alongside 12 graphics compute units (CUs). These are reported details from a leak; AMD has not confirmed them.
The report connects the rumored design to Zen 6-based Medusa Point IP and describes Z3 as a semi-custom handheld chip. The leak does not establish the generation of the low-power cores, a final CPU or GPU configuration, or whether there will be multiple variants. Its own “maybe changed” qualification is especially important: the CPU layout may not be final.
How it compares with confirmed Ryzen Z2 Extreme specifications
AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme is a confirmed reference point, not a proxy for Z3. AMD lists 3 Zen 5 cores and 5 Zen 5c cores, for 8 CPU cores and 16 threads, plus RDNA 3.5 graphics with 16 graphics cores. Its default TDP is 28 W, with a configurable range of 15–35 W. AMD’s Z2 Extreme specifications describe that product only; they do not establish Z3 specifications or predict its performance. AMD’s Ryzen Z1 and Z2 series overview provides additional confirmed series context.

Core and CU counts are not enough to show which chip is faster. Graphics architecture, power limits, cooling, memory, and the complete handheld design all affect results; the confirmed Z2 figures should not be treated as a direct performance comparison with an untested Z3.
What is not known about performance or release
The available report provides no independently measured Ryzen Z3 game benchmarks or battery-life tests, and it does not establish launch timing, a price, or the availability of any Z3-powered handheld. It also does not say what sustained power limits a finished device might use. As a result, the leak cannot support frame-rate estimates, claims of a performance gain, or a buying recommendation.

What handheld buyers should compare when devices are announced
When AMD or device makers confirm products, compare complete handhelds under comparable conditions rather than choosing by core or CU count. Useful factors include:
- Retail price and actual availability of the specific device.
- Configured power limits and sustained game performance.
- Battery life under comparable workloads.
- Display, memory and storage configurations.
- Ergonomics and other device-level design choices.
The current leak supplies no Z3 device results for these comparisons. Until a chip configuration and a handheld are confirmed and tested, the 4+2 CPU and 12-CU description should be treated as an early, changeable rumor.
