Why AMD lists both 128 MB and 144 MB of cache
The figures describe different totals. The product specifications list 128 MB of L3 cache and 16 MB of L2 cache. Adding L2 and L3 gives 144 MB of total cache, the figure used in AMD’s launch announcement. So 128 MB is the L3 figure; 144 MB is L2 plus L3, not a competing L3 specification.

- THE ULTIMATE GAMING PROCESSOR FOR SERIOUS CREATORS
- 16 Cores and 32 processing threads, combined with a massive 144MB of cache
- 5.7 GHz Max Boost, Unlocked Memory Overclocking, DDR5 support
- For the state-of-the-art Socket AM5 platform, can support PCIe 5.0 on select 600 Series motherboards
- Cooler not included, liquid cooler recommended
A chipset-family listing does not guarantee that every motherboard revision is ready for the processor out of the box. Check the exact board’s CPU support list and BIOS requirements before buying or assembling a system.
AMD’s published memory speeds
| DIMM configuration | Published maximum speed |
|---|---|
| Two single-rank modules | DDR5-5200 |
| Two dual-rank modules | DDR5-5200 |
| Four single-rank modules | DDR5-3600 |
| Four dual-rank modules | DDR5-3600 |
These are AMD’s published maximum speeds for the specified arrangements. Actual memory behavior depends on the platform and configuration.

Cooling and temperature
No thermal solution is included with the boxed CPU. AMD says, “Recommended Cooler: Liquid cooler recommended for optimal performance.” The specification does not name a required cooler model. Choose a cooler that fits the case and motherboard, supports AM5 mounting, and suits the intended build. AMD lists the processor’s maximum operating temperature (Tjmax) as 89°C; that is a limit, not a promise that the CPU will run at a particular temperature.
