There does not appear to be a standalone processor officially named “Ryzen 5 5005G.” The Ryzen 5 chips reported in AMD’s Ryzen 5005G family are the Ryzen 5 5605G and Ryzen 5 5605GE: Zen 3, six-core AM4 desktop APUs with Radeon Vega 7 graphics. The 5605G is the 65 W version; the 5605GE is the 35 W low-power variant.
What is the correct Ryzen 5 5005G model name?
“Ryzen 5005G” is used for a reported family of AM4 desktop APUs, not a precise Ryzen 5 SKU. Its reported six-model lineup spans Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7, each with G and GE variants. The Ryzen 5 names are 5605G and 5605GE. A listing that says only “Ryzen 5 5005G” should be treated as ambiguous until the seller confirms the exact processor.
AMD was reported to have quietly added or launched the family in late February 2025. Public coverage appeared on February 26–27; this establishes reporting around a launch or listing, not a documented worldwide retail rollout. TecMundo’s February 2025 report describes the six-model family and the limited launch details.

The “G” denotes a desktop Ryzen processor with integrated graphics. As an APU, the 5605G combines CPU cores and graphics on the processor, so a discrete graphics card is not required for display output—provided the motherboard has a usable video connector.
How the Ryzen 5 5605GE differs
The 5605GE is the lower-power counterpart. Reports give it the same six cores, 12 threads and Vega 7 graphics as the 5605G, but a lower base clock and a 35 W TDP. Its maximum boost is also reported as up to 4.4 GHz.
| Specification | Ryzen 5 5605G | Ryzen 5 5605GE |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture and socket | Zen 3, AM4 | Zen 3, AM4 |
| Cores / threads | 6 / 12 | 6 / 12 |
| Base clock | 3.9 GHz | 3.4 GHz |
| Maximum boost | Up to 4.4 GHz | Up to 4.4 GHz |
| Integrated graphics | Radeon Vega 7 | Radeon Vega 7 |
| TDP | 65 W | 35 W |
The GE’s lower thermal-design rating makes it a plausible fit for compact or thermally constrained systems. TDP is not a measurement of total system power, and actual sustained performance depends on the motherboard’s power limits and cooling.

Is the 5605G a new generation?
No new CPU architecture is indicated: coverage identifies the 5605G and 5605GE as Zen 3 AM4 parts. The “5005G” family name does not mean Zen 5. The parts appear to be a late addition or refresh within the Ryzen 5000-era AM4 lineup, rather than a major architectural step. JC TechSpace’s family overview also describes the products as Zen 3 AM4 APUs.

How it compares with the Ryzen 5 5600G
The reported 5605G and 5600G specifications are strikingly similar. That does not establish that the processors are physically or electrically identical, or that they produce identical benchmark results.
| Feature | Ryzen 5 5605G | Ryzen 5 5600G |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Zen 3 | Zen 3 |
| Cores / threads | 6 / 12 | 6 / 12 |
| Base clock | 3.9 GHz | 3.9 GHz |
| Maximum boost | Up to 4.4 GHz | Up to 4.4 GHz |
| Integrated graphics | Vega 7 | Vega 7 |
| TDP | 65 W | 65 W |
| Platform | AM4 | AM4 |
With no established performance testing here to distinguish them, compare actual price, seller warranty, availability and motherboard support. A 5600G may be the simpler choice if it is easier to source or costs less; an existing 5600G owner should not assume that moving to a 5605G will provide a meaningful speed increase.

What performance should you expect?
Six Zen 3 cores are suited to everyday desktop work such as office applications, web browsing and media playback. Vega 7 can also support light or older gaming at modest settings, but it is an older integrated-graphics design, not a substitute for a modern gaming GPU. Coverage likewise cautions against treating it as equivalent to newer graphics solutions. JC TechSpace discusses that graphics-performance context.
Integrated graphics use system memory, so configuration matters. A dual-channel DDR4 setup is preferable to a single memory module; graphics results will also vary with memory speed, game settings, resolution, firmware, cooling and power limits. No reliable game-specific frame rates or independent benchmark results are established here.
Check compatibility before buying
AM4 describes the socket, not guaranteed compatibility with every AM4 motherboard. Confirm the exact processor and required firmware against the board maker’s CPU-support list before ordering. A520, B450 and B550 boards may be candidates, but support is model- and BIOS-dependent.

- The Socket AM5 socket allows processor to be placed on the PCB without soldering
- Ryzen 5 product line processor for your convenience and optimal usage
- 5 nm process technology for reliable performance with maximum productivity
- Hexa-core (6 Core) processor core helps processor process data in a dependable and timely manner with maximum productivity
- 6 MB L2 plus 32 MB L3 cache memory provides excellent hit rate in short access time enabling improved system performance
- Confirm the exact SKU. Ask for confirmation that the part is a Ryzen 5 5605G or 5605GE, rather than a 5600G, 5600GT or another similarly named processor. Request a clear label or manufacturer part number where possible.
- Check the motherboard CPU-support list. Find the exact board revision and processor entry on the manufacturer’s support page.
- Check the BIOS requirement. Verify the minimum supported BIOS version and whether the board can be updated without an already working CPU, if needed.
- Confirm memory and display connections. Plan for dual-channel DDR4, and make sure the motherboard has the HDMI, DisplayPort or other output your monitor needs.
- Verify cooling and seller terms. Do not assume a cooler is included. Check the seller’s warranty, return policy, product condition and whether the part is new, pulled from an OEM system or an engineering sample.
Some coverage suggests these processors may be distributed as tray parts, but that is not confirmed as a universal policy in every region. Niche PC Gamer’s report is the source for the tray-only possibility; treat it as a buyer risk to verify, not a global guarantee.
Launch price and availability
The reporting around the February 2025 addition did not establish a dependable MSRP or broad global retail availability. Regional stock, channel and warranty may differ, and an apparent listing does not by itself confirm a normal boxed retail product. Avoid judging value from the family name alone: verify the exact model, seller, warranty and return terms before paying.

Existing AM4 owners
The 5605G may suit an AM4 owner who needs integrated graphics, is building or replacing a low-cost desktop, and can confirm BIOS support. The 5605GE may fit a compact system where lower heat and power are priorities and its channel and warranty are clear.

New budget-PC builders
Compare the complete system cost, not only the processor. A new AM4 build means choosing an older DDR4 platform; a Ryzen 8000G system requires an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 but offers a newer platform and more modern integrated graphics. The better choice depends on total cost and priorities, not a universal price advantage.
Gaming-focused buyers
If modern gaming is the goal, Vega 7 is a limitation. Consider a newer Ryzen 8000G APU when integrated graphics matter, or an appropriate CPU paired with a discrete graphics card. The reported 5005G coverage positions the 8000G family as the stronger integrated-graphics option for new systems when budget allows. TecMundo’s launch coverage makes that comparison.
Owners of a Ryzen 5 5600G
The listed 5605G specifications are so close to the 5600G that an upgrade is difficult to justify on model number alone. No benchmark evidence here demonstrates a material performance gain.
Quick Recap
Alternatives to compare
- Ryzen 5 5600G: The closest reported specification match; compare price, warranty, availability and board support.
- Ryzen 5 5600GT: Another AM4 option to compare, but check its current price and exact specifications before deciding.
- Ryzen 7 5700G: A higher-core-count AM4 APU for workloads that can use more CPU cores; value depends on its price and availability.
- Ryzen 8000G series: A newer APU family with more modern integrated graphics, but it requires an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory.
- AM4 CPU plus discrete graphics: Worth comparing if a graphics card is already owned or planned; the best-value CPU may then be a non-APU model.
