She also urged AI companies to work together on safety and innovation. Her remarks were reported by Bloomberg’s Debby Wu from Taipei on October 6, 2026; the report does not quantify the planned increase or establish a binding industry commitment.
What Lisa Su said about AMD’s chip supply
Speaking with reporters in Taipei during a visit to supply-chain partners, Su said AMD had increased its supply and capacity in 2026, but demand remained higher. Bloomberg reported her statement: “We have also increased our own supply and capacity in 2026, but I can say that the demand is even higher than our supply.”

Su said AMD planned to substantially increase supply in 2027. Bloomberg’s report gives no figure for the increase, shipment target or timetable. These are management’s expectations as reported by Bloomberg, not independently verified capacity figures or a guarantee of future deliveries.

AMD’s comments point to a gap between the demand the company is seeing and the supply it can currently provide. The report does not specify which chips, customers or parts of AMD’s business account for that gap, so it does not support a more precise breakdown.
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
Bloomberg also noted investor concerns about possible industry overcapacity, debt levels and regulatory setbacks. Those concerns are context, not evidence that demand for AMD’s chips is already falling. The report does not resolve whether expected demand or expanded supply will ultimately prove more durable.
Su’s call for AI companies to cooperate
Su urged AI companies to work together on both safety and innovation, describing ecosystem-wide cooperation as important. She said the goal was “to ensure that we have both very capable AI as well as very safe AI.”

The remarks are an appeal to cooperate, not a detailed policy proposal or evidence of a formal agreement among AI companies. Bloomberg’s report does not set out specific safety standards, responsibilities or enforcement mechanisms.
What to watch in 2027
- Whether supply increases: AMD’s stated plan is substantial growth in 2027, but the report provides no quantified target against which to measure it.
- Whether demand continues to outpace supply: Su described conditions as of her October 6, 2026 remarks; the report does not establish how long the imbalance will last.
- Whether AI firms act on cooperation: Su’s call identifies safety and innovation as shared concerns, but the report does not announce a joint initiative.
