You do not need to file a new claim to receive an Amazon Prime settlement refund. Under the revised distribution, eligible U.S. Prime customers may receive automatic payments totaling up to $200, but $200 is a maximum—not a guaranteed payout. The FTC says eligible consumers should receive payment by April 2027.
Who is eligible for an Amazon Prime settlement refund?
The FTC’s current guidance says you must meet all three conditions:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- You were a U.S. Amazon Prime customer.
- Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you used one of the challenged Prime enrollment flows or unsuccessfully tried to cancel Prime online.
- After enrolling, you used no more than 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period.
The enrollment flows named by the FTC are the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. A failed online cancellation can qualify regardless of which signup route you used. Simply having had Prime during those dates is not enough; Amazon’s records and the administrator’s determination control individual eligibility. See the FTC’s current eligibility guidance.

No new claim, form, or response is required for the revised automatic distribution. The order also provides for payment to identified claims-process eligible consumers who submitted approved or invalid forms—or no form—if they have not already been paid and are not subject to a holdback. Do not pay a claim helper or submit a new application to pursue this refund.

The payment program is administered by Amazon, not by the FTC. For official updates, start at the FTC refund page; the FTC identifies the settlement site as SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com and lists [email protected] for payment help.
How much could you receive?
The September 2025 settlement totals $2.5 billion: up to $1.5 billion is for consumer redress, and a separate $1 billion is a civil penalty. The redress fund is not divided into an equal, guaranteed payment for every Prime customer. By September 2026, the FTC said more than $845 million had been issued.

The maximum total payment is $200 per eligible consumer across the distribution phases. The original consumer payment phases paid up to $51. The revised September 2026 order expands the distribution to identified consumers who used 11–20 Prime benefits in a 12-month period. It also permits a later payment of up to $149 to some consumers, subject to a fund threshold and other conditions; the $149 is not an additional payment everyone will receive. Your amount depends on eligibility, Prime fees, and which payment stages apply to you. The FTC’s refund page and the September 2026 revised distribution order describe the current terms.
When will payments arrive, and how are they sent?
The FTC says eligible customers should receive refunds by April 2027. The revised order called for expanded automatic payments to start October 1, 2026. A separate possible round of up to $149 is conditional: if accepted payments have not reached the $1 billion threshold by February 2027, payments to consumers who previously accepted a settlement payment are to begin by the end of April 2027.

Payments may be sent through PayPal, Venmo, or mailed check. Do not assume you can choose a payment method; follow the current administrator instructions and the notice you receive. FTC guidance says a payment expires 60 days after issuance. The order says escalation payments must be accepted by March 5, 2027, after which unaccepted payments may be voided.
How to check for a payment or get help
- Visit the FTC’s Amazon Prime refund page directly for current eligibility details and distribution updates.
- Check the email account and mailing address associated with your Prime account, as well as the PayPal or Venmo account named in any payment notice.
- If a payment appears to be missing, a check went to the wrong address, or a settlement portal is not working, use the administrator contact listed by the FTC: [email protected]. The FTC’s consumer alert also covers common support issues: Amazon Prime refunds: what to know.
How to avoid refund scams
The FTC says it is not contacting people about these refunds, and neither the FTC nor Amazon will ask you to pay money to release one. Treat unsolicited requests for fees, transfers, or sensitive account credentials as suspicious. Navigate to the FTC page or official settlement site yourself instead of relying on a link in an unexpected message.
