How long does Amazon Prime delivery take?
It can take the same day, one day, two days, or another amount of time shown for the order. Amazon’s US Prime page describes Same-Day, One-Day, and Two-Day delivery as benefits available on millions of items—not as a guarantee that every Prime order arrives within two days. Amazon’s Prime benefits page lists those delivery options.

The arrival date shown for the exact item and delivery address is more useful than a general promise about Prime. Availability and the cutoff for ordering can vary by location and product.

What determines the delivery date?
- Item eligibility: Not every product has the same Prime delivery options.
- Delivery address: A speed offered for one ZIP code may not be available for another.
- Order cutoff: A Same-Day option may depend on placing the order before the cutoff displayed on the listing.
- Price or minimum: Same-Day delivery may have a charge or order threshold, depending on the offer shown for your order.
For example, Amazon’s US Same-Day Delivery explainer says that in most cities, Same-Day delivery is free for Prime orders over $25 and costs $2.99 below that threshold. Treat this as the offer described on that page, not a permanent rule for every location or order; check the charge displayed at checkout.

How to check your order’s estimated arrival
- Set the delivery address to where the package will go.
- Open the product page and read the delivery message for that item. If Same-Day delivery is offered, check its countdown and cutoff.
- At checkout, verify the selected delivery option, estimated date or time, and any fee. Amazon says the Same-Day order summary shows an estimated delivery time.
- After ordering, open the order details and tracking information to see the latest status.
Amazon’s Prime delivery eligibility help explains that options depend on the item and address and appear on product pages and at checkout. That page is for Amazon.co.uk, so its marketplace-specific terms should not be treated as US policy; the general point is to rely on the information shown for the order and marketplace you are using.
What to do if a Prime package is late
Start with the order’s status and tracking details, then follow the customer-service instructions shown for that order and marketplace. Amazon’s late-delivery help page recommends checking order and tracking information and contacting customer service when needed. It is a UK help page, so its specific waiting periods and remedies do not establish US-wide rules.

What Amazon’s delivery-speed statistic does—and does not—mean
Amazon reported that more than 13 billion items arrived the same or next day around the world in 2025, in an announcement published in February 2026. This is a company-reported global total, not the probability that a particular Prime order will arrive by a certain date. Amazon’s announcement describes the aggregate figure.
Amazon.com orders versus Buy with Prime
Buy with Prime is a separate service for purchases from participating external stores; those orders are not the same as ordering on Amazon.com. For such a purchase, use the confirmation and tracking links provided for that store. Buy with Prime’s guidance describes tracking for participating stores.
