Its matte screen, included art collection and customizable frame are appealing for bright living spaces; its 60 Hz panel, weak dark-scene contrast and gaming limitations make it a poor fit for buyers prioritizing movie performance or fast gaming. RTINGS tested the 65-inch U.S. model, QL65M800A, and says its results also apply to the 55-inch QL55M800A.
What the Amazon Ember Artline is—and who it suits
Amazon positions the Ember Artline as both a gallery-style display and a Fire TV. It pairs a matte anti-glare QLED screen with a wall-oriented frame, voice features and access to streaming apps through Fire OS 8. The strongest case for it is a room where the television should blend into the decor and show artwork when not in use. It is less compelling if picture quality in dark scenes, wide seating angles or high-frame-rate gaming is the main priority.

The U.S. models are the 55-inch QL55M800A and 65-inch QL65M800A. RTINGS’ published review is based on the 65-inch QL65M800A; its conclusions are stated to apply to the 55-inch version too, rather than representing separate tests of both sizes. Canadian model suffixes differ: RTINGS identifies QL65M800C and QL55M800C for Canada. RTINGS’ review and Amazon’s device specifications provide the model and technical details.

Picture quality: reflection control comes with trade-offs
Bright rooms and artwork
RTINGS finds the matte coating and screen brightness useful in brighter rooms, where reflections can distract on a glossy screen. The finish is not an unqualified upgrade: it can add a slight haze, and RTINGS reports mediocre screen uniformity and narrow viewing angles. A centered viewer in a bright room is a better match than a household that watches from seats spread widely across the room.

For art mode, RTINGS measured a minimum brightness of 125 nits in its 2026 review. That is a reviewer measurement, not an Amazon specification, and RTINGS considers it high for viewing art in a dark room. If the television will regularly display artwork at night with the room lights low, this minimum brightness is worth considering.
Dark scenes, streaming quality and motion
RTINGS describes the set as an edge-lit LED television without local dimming. It reports that dark scenes look washed out, while poor processing and soft upscaling make lower-quality streams look less refined. Motion can also appear blurry. These findings limit the Artline as a home-cinema choice even though it supports several HDR formats.

Art, frame and Fire TV features
Amazon says the Artline includes access to more than 2,000 curated art pieces at no extra cost or subscription requirement. It also advertises 10 frame colors, 60 commissioned motion-video pieces, Amazon Photos integration for personal pictures and Match the Room, an AI feature that uses an uploaded room photo to suggest artwork from the collection. These are features described by Amazon, not independent assessments of the collection or image quality. Details appear in Amazon’s April 15, 2026 announcement.

Fire OS 8 supplies the smart-TV platform. The Artline also supports Dolby Vision and other HDR formats, but format support alone does not offset the dark-scene and processing shortcomings reported by RTINGS.

Specifications are from Amazon’s North American device-specification page and product identification information. The 60 Hz refresh rate is particularly important: it sets a ceiling for the frame rates the panel can display, regardless of what a connected gaming device can output.
Gaming: limited headroom for fast play
The Artline is not a strong choice for demanding gaming. Amazon lists a 60 Hz panel, and RTINGS reports that VRR does not work properly and is available only on one input. RTINGS also found higher-than-average input lag and pronounced motion blur in fast action. Occasional or casual play may be acceptable, but buyers seeking responsive competitive play or a high-refresh display should look elsewhere.

Mounting, frame and stand costs
Amazon includes a wall-mount kit, but it is a non-VESA mount. The television itself supports VESA-compatible mounts, which are purchased separately. The frame ships separately and consists of four magnetic clip-on pieces; Amazon’s setup guide says to attach it after installing the television on the mount or legs.
There is no included tabletop stand in the described package. Amazon directs owners who will not wall-mount the set to buy size-matched television legs separately. Wall mounting requires two people, according to Amazon’s setup guide. Its listed connections include HDMI 2.1 eARC, three HDMI 2.0 ports, USB 3.0, Ethernet, optical audio, antenna/cable and an IR emitter connection.

Price and regional availability
Amazon’s April 15, 2026 announcement set a U.S. starting price of $899.99 and said shipping would begin April 22 in the U.S. and Canada, then May 7 in the UK and Germany. How to judge it against other gallery TVs
RTINGS names Samsung The Frame 2026, Hisense CanvasTV 2026 and LG Gallery 2026 as relevant comparison candidates. It reports better processing from the Hisense CanvasTV and stronger overall performance from some alternatives, but that does not establish a universal winner for every room or price. Compare exact sizes and current prices, then weigh the factors that affect your use:
- Reflection handling and brightness for your room’s lighting.
- Dark-scene contrast and whether the competing model has local dimming.
- Art selection, frame customization and any recurring costs.
- Viewing angles for the seating positions in your room.
- Processing and motion for the types of video you watch.
- Refresh rate, VRR behavior and input lag for gaming.
- Whether a wall mount is included and whether legs or a flush installation require extra hardware.
RTINGS’ comparisons are available in its Ember Artline review. Features and prices can vary by size, region and sale, so compare the exact versions available where you live.
Verdict: buy it for the gallery look, not picture-performance leadership
The Ember Artline makes sense if a matte, framed screen and Amazon’s included art collection are central to the purchase, and if the TV will mostly serve in a bright, relatively centered viewing area. Its 60 Hz panel and RTINGS’ findings on contrast, processing, viewing angles and gaming are meaningful compromises. Treat it as a decorative Fire TV with real television capability—not as a substitute for a performance-first movie or gaming display.
