To host an All of Create: Aeronautics server, use the pack’s dedicated server files for Minecraft 1.21.1, run them with Java 21 on NeoForge, allocate enough memory for physics-heavy contraptions, and make every client match the server’s exact pack, Minecraft and NeoForge versions. A small private server can run on a suitable home machine; managed hosting removes router and maintenance work.

What All of Create: Aeronautics is
All of Create: Aeronautics is a Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 modpack built around the Create ecosystem. Its focus is aircraft, airships and other moving contraptions whose physics and chunk loading are simulated while they operate. WiseHosting’s 2026 overview describes more than 50 Create addons, a quest system and more than 438,000 downloads at the time it was collected. Download totals and pack releases change, so treat those figures as a snapshot rather than a current guarantee.
The server is not a vanilla world with a few optional client mods. NeoForge must load the same pack components on the server and on every joining client. A missing dependency, an extra incompatible mod or a different pack revision can prevent login before a player reaches the world.

Requirements at a glance
Software versions
| Component | Required target | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft Java Edition | 1.21.1 | The pack and its NeoForge build target this Minecraft release. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge for 1.21.1 | Installing Forge, Fabric or another NeoForge release creates a different mod environment. |
| Java | Java 21 | ModReady states that Create Aeronautics targets NeoForge 1.21.1 and requires Java 21. The pack-specific guidance also describes Java 21 or newer for this server. |
| Distribution | Dedicated server pack ZIP | The server archive contains the files and scripts intended for a server; a client export is not a substitute. |
Hardware and network prerequisites
- A modern, high-clock-speed CPU is preferable because active aircraft and other contraptions perform per-tick physics work.
- An SSD reduces startup, world-save and chunk-loading delays compared with a mechanical hard drive.
- Use a machine with more memory than the Java heap so the operating system and any desktop or launcher remain responsive.
- You need router administration only when players outside your local network will connect to a server at home.
- Every player needs Minecraft Java Edition and a launcher that can install the exact All of Create: Aeronautics release used by the server.
Starting memory guidance
Memory requirements depend on view distance, world size, the number of simultaneous players and how many large contraptions are active. WiseHosting’s 2026 guidance gives these starting points:
| Expected players | Suggested RAM | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | 8 GB | A starting allocation for a small group, not a performance guarantee. |
| 3–6 | 10 GB | More headroom for simultaneous exploration and moving machines. |
| 7–15 | 12 GB | A larger starting point that still depends on CPU speed and contraption complexity. |
ModReady independently lists an 8–10 GB starting range for All of Create — Aeronautics. Treat both recommendations as planning guidance: watch the server log and tick performance after players begin flying rather than assuming a larger heap alone will cure CPU-bound lag.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChoose between self-hosting and managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you direct access to the world, configuration files, scripts and mod files. It is usually the best fit when you already have a capable always-on computer and are comfortable with Java, firewall rules and backups. A managed host charges a recurring fee but normally supplies a control panel, a public address and a machine that stays online without using your home connection.
| Decision point | Self-hosted machine | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Download the server pack, install Java, configure the firewall and possibly forward a router port. | Usually select the pack in a panel, choose a plan and start the instance. |
| File and configuration control | Full control over scripts, JVM arguments, world files and mods. | Control depends on the provider’s panel and file access. |
| Recurring cost | No hosting bill, but you supply hardware, electricity and your internet connection. | Monthly fee; current prices and resource limits vary by provider and plan. |
| Home-network exposure | Remote play requires a firewall rule and router forwarding. | The provider exposes the server instead of your home router. |
| Backups and DDoS protection | You must arrange and test them yourself. | Some plans advertise automated backups or DDoS protection; verify what is included. |
| Changing pack versions | You can replace files directly, but must make your own backups and compatibility checks. | A panel may simplify reinstalling or switching versions, subject to the provider’s supported catalog. |
| CPU and RAM capacity | Limited by the computer you own. | Limited by the purchased plan and the provider’s hardware. |
WiseHosting documents a panel workflow in which you choose Modpacks, filter to CurseForge, select All of Create Aeronautics, install and start. It advertises 24/7 operation and no home-network exposure; those are vendor claims that should be checked against the current plan. ModReady advertises preconfigured NeoForge 1.21.1, Java 21, JVM flags, dependencies, backups and DDoS protection, also subject to current terms. FadeHost advertises automatic installation of the Create Customised [Aeronautics] pack, an 8 GB free trial and client installation through Modrinth or another launcher, and states that it is not affiliated with Mojang or the pack authors. These services are alternatives to the self-hosted procedure below, not requirements for running the pack.
Install a self-hosted server
1. Download the correct server archive
- Open the All of Create: Aeronautics project page on CurseForge.
- Open the project’s Files area and locate the release you intend to run. Check the Additional Files area if the server archive is listed there.
- Download the server-pack ZIP for that exact release. CurseForge’s general server-pack guidance distinguishes this archive from a client export; do not use the files generated for a client launcher as your server installation.
Record the pack version before extracting it. Every player will need that same version later.

2. Create a clean server directory
- Create a dedicated folder with a short, simple name, such as
AeronauticsServer, on the SSD you intend to use. - Extract the ZIP into that folder rather than into your client launcher’s profile directory.
- Keep the server directory separate from screenshots, downloads and other Minecraft instances. This makes backups and version changes less error-prone.
3. Run the supplied installer or start script
- Open the extracted folder and run the included
start.bator installer script on Windows. Use the equivalent supplied script for your operating system when one is provided. - Leave the window open while NeoForge and required libraries download. The first run can take longer than later starts.
- If an interrupted download leaves an incomplete installation, run the script again before changing files manually.
Do not launch the server by double-clicking an arbitrary JAR if the pack supplies a script. The script normally sets the intended class path and JVM arguments.
Recommended Free Tools
4. Install and verify Java 21
- Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime or select Java 21 in the launcher or server control panel.
- Open a terminal in the server folder and run:
java -version
The output should identify Java 21. If it reports an older release, update the system PATH or edit the supplied script so it points to the Java 21 executable. A newer Java release may or may not be supported by a particular pack build; use Java 21 first because it is the documented target.
5. Accept the EULA and start once
- Run the start script. When the files are generated, open
eula.txt. - Read Minecraft’s terms and change the acceptance line to
eula=trueonly if you agree to them. - Start the script again and watch the log until it reports
Done. The first successful start creates the world and server configuration files. - Stop the process with the console command
stop. This flushes world data and closes the server cleanly; closing the window or killing the process risks corruption.
6. Set the Java heap
Edit user_jvm_args.txt or the memory fields in the supplied start script, depending on how the server pack is laid out. Begin with the appropriate starting point from the memory table, leave capacity for the operating system, and increase only after observing actual usage. A Java heap that consumes all physical memory can make the whole machine swap or become unresponsive.
7. Test on the host computer
- Start the server and wait for the
Donemessage. - Launch the matching client instance.
- In Minecraft’s multiplayer screen, add a server with the address
localhost. - Join, generate a small test area and shut the server down with
stopbefore inviting others.
This local test separates installation problems from router and firewall problems. If the host cannot join locally, port forwarding will not fix the underlying server configuration.
Configure the world and server rules
After the first successful start, use server.properties for the ordinary server settings exposed by Minecraft. The file includes controls for game mode, difficulty, view distance, simulation distance and the player limit. Edit it while the server is stopped, save it, then restart so the new values are loaded.

- Lower view distance or simulation distance if exploration causes excessive chunk work or CPU load.
- Set the player limit to the size of your group rather than leaving capacity for players you do not intend to host.
- Choose game mode and difficulty before the first shared session so the initial world experience matches your plan.
- Keep a copy of the original file before experimenting with settings.
Do not edit mod configuration files at random. If a mod supplies its own configuration, identify that file from the pack’s existing structure and change one setting at a time, keeping a backup of the working version.
Make the server reachable from the internet
Local-network play
Players on the same home network can usually connect using the server computer’s local IP address. The host firewall still has to permit the Java server process or its listening port. Test locally before troubleshooting internet access.
Internet play with port forwarding
- Give the server computer a stable local IP address, either with a reserved DHCP lease in the router or a correctly configured static address.
- In the router’s port-forwarding page, create a rule for TCP port
25565to the server computer’s local IP. ModReady identifies this as the standard port for remote Minecraft connections. - Create or enable an operating-system firewall rule that permits the same inbound service.
- Give friends your public address and the port if it is not the default. Never publish your private local IP as a public address.
- Test from a network outside your home, such as a phone’s mobile connection. Some routers cannot test their own public address from inside the LAN.
Forwarding a port exposes a service on your home network. Restrict the rule to the required port, do not forward administrative interfaces, keep NeoForge and the pack updated, use strong account credentials for any remote-management tool, and remove the rule when the server is no longer needed. A managed host avoids this home-router exposure.
Make every client match
Each player must install All of Create: Aeronautics through a launcher such as CurseForge and select the exact release running on the server. The Minecraft version, NeoForge version and pack version must all match. WiseHosting notes that a client/server pack mismatch produces a connection error.
- Tell players the exact pack release before they install.
- Have them launch the pack once in single-player so the launcher finishes downloading dependencies.
- Compare the installed Minecraft and NeoForge versions with the server’s files and startup log.
- Remove manually added mods unless they are part of the same pack release and are known to be server-compatible.
Do not mix a newer client pack with an older server, substitute Fabric for NeoForge, or assume that two releases with similar names are interchangeable.

Keep physics-heavy gameplay responsive
Flying contraptions are active physics bodies, so Aeronautics can be more CPU-sensitive than a lightweight vanilla server. Lag that appears specifically when players take off, build large moving machines or explore new terrain usually points to simulation or chunk-loading pressure rather than a simple lack of heap memory.
Reduce active simulation
- Limit the number of aircraft and other moving contraptions operating simultaneously.
- Break up or restrict very large moving structures.
- Ask players to park unused airships and machines rather than leaving them active in loaded chunks.
- Lower view or simulation distance when the CPU is saturated.
Reduce chunk-generation spikes
Pregenerate terrain where practical before a busy multiplayer event. This shifts some chunk-generation work away from the moment players fly into unexplored territory. Keep the generated area within the storage capacity and backup plan for the server.
Measure before changing memory
Watch the server log, tick-time indicators supplied by your administration tools and operating-system CPU and memory usage. If one or two cores are saturated while heap remains available, adding RAM will not remove the bottleneck; reduce active physics work or move to a faster CPU.

“Java version” or immediate launch errors
- Run
java -versionin the same environment used by the script. - Confirm that the script is not pointing to an older Java installation.
- Use a 64-bit Java 21 runtime and enough physical memory for the selected heap.
Missing-mod or dependency errors
Check that the server archive was extracted completely and that required dependencies are present. ModReady identifies Create and Sable as Aeronautics dependencies. Compare their versions with the pack release rather than downloading random copies from another Minecraft version.
Server starts but a player cannot join
- Compare the exact All of Create: Aeronautics release on the client and server.
- Compare Minecraft 1.21.1 and the NeoForge build.
- Read the server log at the time of the failed connection for a missing dependency, registry mismatch or client-only mod placed on the server.
- Confirm the player is using the intended server address and that the firewall and router rule point to the correct local machine.
Players time out from outside the home
- Confirm the server works through
localhostfirst. - Verify the forwarding rule uses TCP and the server computer’s current local IP.
- Check that the operating-system firewall permits the Java process.
- Test from an external network and consider whether the internet service uses carrier-grade NAT, which can prevent inbound forwarding.
Lag begins when aircraft launch
Reduce active aircraft and large moving structures, lower simulation-related distances, and pregenerate terrain. If the machine remains CPU-bound after those changes, a faster host is more useful than simply assigning a larger heap.
Best Value
Using a managed host instead
Managed installation is appropriate when you want the server online without maintaining a home computer or router. In a provider’s panel, select the modpack catalog entry, choose a plan with sufficient CPU and memory, install the exact release, start the instance and review the console for the Done message. Upload or restore a world only after stopping the server.
Before paying, verify the provider’s current resource allocation, supported pack version, backup schedule, file access, cancellation terms and whether DDoS protection is included or separately charged. Vendor pages can change their plan names, prices, trial limits and guarantees. Confirm that the panel installs the same NeoForge 1.21.1 and Java 21 combination required by the release you selected.
Updating, backups and routine maintenance
- Stop the server with
stopand wait for the process to close. - Copy the world folder,
server.properties, JVM arguments and relevant configuration files to storage outside the live server directory. - Record the current pack, Minecraft and NeoForge versions.
- Install the new server pack in a separate folder or use the host’s version-change function.
- Test the updated instance with the copied world before inviting players.
- Tell every player to update their client to the same release.
Never treat an advertised backup feature as a substitute for a restore test. A backup is useful only if you know where it is stored and can bring the world back after a failed update.
Bottom line
The reliable setup path is straightforward: download the dedicated server pack for the chosen release, run NeoForge 1.21.1 with Java 21, allocate memory according to group size and observed load, accept the EULA, test locally, then configure the firewall and TCP port 25565 only if remote players need access. Keep every client on the identical pack, Minecraft and NeoForge versions. When flying machines cause lag, reduce active physics and chunk work or move to faster hardware instead of assuming that more RAM will solve a CPU bottleneck.
