Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteShort answer: Choose All-in-One WP Migration when you want a straightforward dashboard transfer built around one .wpress file. Choose Duplicator when you prefer an archive-plus-installer workflow or need features such as recovery points, staging, multisite support and broader remote-storage options in a paid plan. Neither plugin has independent evidence proving it is universally faster, safer or more reliable, so the better choice depends on your site size, hosting limits and restore requirements.
How the two plugins move a WordPress site
All-in-One WP Migration: one portable archive
All-in-One WP Migration and Backup exports the site into a single .wpress file. The documented archive contains the WordPress database, media, themes and plugins. You install WordPress and the plugin at the destination, import the file, and let the importer update URL references while handling serialized data. See the official WordPress.org listing for the vendor’s current workflow and feature notes.
After importing, the vendor recommends clearing caches and resaving permalinks. It also advises keeping the old host active for 7–14 days as a rollback precaution; that is vendor guidance, not an independently tested requirement.
Duplicator: archive plus installer
Duplicator’s classic process creates an archive and an installer.php file. You transfer both to the destination, run the installer, and follow its checks while it extracts files, restores the database and replaces the old URLs. Duplicator Pro additionally offers recovery points and a newer import workflow. The detailed sequence is documented in the Duplicator plugin workflow guide.

Which plugin fits your situation?
Pick All-in-One WP Migration for a simple single-site move
- You are moving one ordinary WordPress installation and want the fewest separate files to manage.
- Your destination can upload and process the
.wpressfile through the dashboard. - You prefer a guided plugin import rather than uploading an installer and running a web-based deployment script.
Pick Duplicator for installer control and operational options
- You want a package that can be deployed by placing an archive and installer on the destination.
- You need Pro capabilities such as recovery points, staging or multisite support.
- You need scheduled packages or integrations with services such as Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or FTP/SFTP, subject to the plan you purchase.
Do not decide on a headline “size limit” alone
Duplicator’s documented 500 MB figure applies to its free DupArchive engine, not every archive type or every host. ZIP creation can be constrained by 32-bit versus 64-bit PHP, memory, execution time, disk space and other host resources; a build may stop before completion. All-in-One’s reviewed official listing does not establish a current universal free import limit, so do not rely on old comparison tables. Check the current vendor documentation and test the actual hosting account.
Multisite, staging and plan boundaries
WordPress multisite
Duplicator’s free plugin does not support multisite networks. The vendor’s Pro plan listing includes multisite network support and subsite migration options. All-in-One’s listing mentions network-level multisite capabilities, but the exact current tier boundary and supported network operation should be confirmed before buying.

Staging and recovery
If your process includes a staging copy or a quick rollback point, compare the specific Duplicator Pro plan that supplies those features with the All-in-One extension tier you would actually need. A migration package is not automatically a tested backup: restore one in staging and verify the result.
Backup destinations and scheduling
All-in-One documents local downloads and cloud-storage support. Duplicator describes local folders and Duplicator Cloud, while its Pro listing names Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Amazon S3 and FTP/SFTP integrations. Scheduling and destination availability vary by product tier, so make a feature checklist before comparing prices.
Recommended Free Tools
Keep at least one independent off-site copy. A second copy on the same server, or only on a computer in the same location, does not protect against a host failure, account compromise or local disaster.
Migration procedures
All-in-One WP Migration checklist
- Confirm the destination meets the WordPress, PHP and storage requirements of your site and selected extension.
- Install WordPress and All-in-One WP Migration on the destination.
- Export the source site and download the resulting
.wpressfile or send it to a supported storage destination. - Open the destination plugin’s import screen and upload the archive.
- Allow the importer to replace URL references and process serialized data; do not interrupt the request.
- Log in again if prompted, clear caches and resave permalinks under Settings → Permalinks.
- Check front-end pages, administration screens, media, forms, email and scheduled jobs before changing DNS.
Duplicator classic checklist
- Build a package and review the scan for warnings, disk space and server limits.
- Download the archive and
installer.php. - Place both files in the destination document root or the location specified by your host.
- Open
installer.phpin a browser and complete its environment and database steps. - Let the installer extract files, restore the database and replace the old URLs.
- Validate the installer report, log in, resave permalinks and test the site before switching traffic.
- Remove installer and package files when the deployment is complete, following Duplicator’s cleanup guidance.
Pricing and renewals
Duplicator’s pricing page lists Basic, Plus, Pro and Elite tiers, with site-count and feature differences. The page displays prices in U.S. dollars and states that introductory prices renew at the regular price; check the page at purchase time for the amount and terms: Duplicator Pro pricing.

The exact current All-in-One paid extension prices and tier boundaries were not established by the official material reviewed for this comparison. Check ServMask’s current extension and license pages, then compare the renewal cost for the storage, scheduling, multisite or import capability you actually require.

- Measure the site: include uploads, database size, backups and free disk space, not just the WordPress core.
- Check host constraints: confirm PHP architecture, memory, execution time, upload limits and available temporary storage.
- List required features: multisite, staging, recovery points, scheduling, remote destinations and number of sites.
- Perform a test restore: use a staging domain or isolated installation and verify the complete site.
- Compare recurring cost: include renewal pricing and any extension or Pro tier needed to remove your host’s limitation.
For a small, conventional single-site transfer, All-in-One’s single-file process is usually the simpler operational fit. For installer-based deployments, multisite, staging or more elaborate backup destinations, Duplicator—often Pro—may fit better. Let the tested workflow and required plan, not a blanket performance claim, decide.

Is Duplicator faster than All-in-One WP Migration?
There is no independent, matched benchmark establishing that either plugin is faster. Build time and restore time depend on site contents, PHP resources, storage and hosting configuration.
Can I migrate a multisite network with the free Duplicator plugin?
No. Duplicator’s free plugin does not support multisite networks; the vendor lists multisite network and subsite migration in Pro.
Does a successful export prove my backup will restore?
No. Restore the package in staging or an isolated installation and check the database, uploads, themes, plugins, URLs, forms and scheduled tasks.
