Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe Alienware AW3926QW is a 38.9-inch curved OLED ultrawide built around an unusual choice: run its full 5120 × 2160 resolution at 165 Hz, or drop to 2560 × 1080 for 330 Hz. That flexibility makes it appealing for both detailed, immersive gaming and high-refresh play, but the 39-inch-class panel needs substantial desk space and native 5K2K gaming calls for a capable graphics card. This review brings together Dell’s specifications and findings from independent reviewers; it is not a first-hand test.
What the AW3926QW is—and who it suits
Dell identifies the AW3926QW as the Alienware 39 5K OLED Gaming Monitor. Its viewable diagonal is 38.9 inches, with a curved 21:9 panel and a native resolution of 5120 × 2160. That combination offers more vertical resolution than a conventional 3440 × 1440 ultrawide, while the wide format gives games and desktop work a broad canvas.

The size is a central part of the decision, not a detail to leave until setup. Tom’s Guide notes that the display may be too large for some desks. TechSpot reported that this 39-inch format has 32% more screen area than a 34-inch 21:9 ultrawide (TechSpot, 2026). Measure your desk and viewing distance before buying, and consider whether the panel will fit alongside speakers, a laptop, or other equipment.

Its 330 Hz option is a separate, lower-resolution mode—not a way to get 330 Hz at 5K2K.

How the two display modes differ
| Mode | Resolution | Maximum refresh rate listed by Dell | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native 5K2K | 5120 × 2160 | 165 Hz | Full panel detail at a high refresh rate; demanding for a gaming GPU. |
| High-refresh | 2560 × 1080 | 330 Hz | Twice the listed refresh rate, but at half the width and half the height of the native resolution. |
Dell lists a 0.03 ms GTG response time in Extreme mode. That is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of identical results in every setting or game. Independent reviews describe sharp motion and low input lag, while the practical benefit of the 330 Hz mode depends on the games you play and whether your PC can produce very high frame rates.
For a game where detail, scenery, or a wide field of view matters most, native 5K2K is the more natural fit. For competitive play where very high refresh is the priority, 2560 × 1080 sacrifices substantial detail to reach 330 Hz. PC Gamer notes that the native resolution makes a capable GPU important. Tom’s Guide used an RTX 5080 in its test system; that is the reviewer’s setup, not a minimum requirement from Dell.

OLED picture, text clarity, and HDR
Dell specifies a tandem OLED panel with an RGB-stripe subpixel layout, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, 300 nits typical brightness, and 1,300 nits peak brightness. It also lists DisplayHDR True Black 500 and Dolby Vision HDR. These are manufacturer specifications; brightness figures alone do not describe how the monitor performs across every image or HDR scene.

It also says the high resolution and RGB subpixel arrangement make text sharp for office work. That makes the monitor more versatile than a gaming-only screen, although the 21:9 format and curved 39-inch panel should still be considered in the context of your desk and applications.

- INFINITELY IMMERSIVE: Quantum Dot Display Technology enables a slim panel design and delivers a superior color performance with a higher peak luminance and greater color gamut range vs WOLED (White OLED) by taking the impressive qualities of OLED (such as true blacks & infinite contrast ratio) and enhances color performance by directly converting blue light into the primary colors of red and green through a Quantum Dot pixel layer.
- STUTTER-FREE SPEED: Experience ultra-low latency gameplay, support for HDR and cinematic color, plus smooth, tear-free gaming thanks to AMD FreeSync Premium Pro Technology and VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification.
- IMPECCABLE DESIGN: The jaw-dropping new design features a sleek QD-OLED curved 1800R panel integrated into the iconic new Legend 2.0 ID, plus customizable RGB AlienFX lighting, 360° ventilation for better heat dissipation, improved cable management and a new centralized OSD 5-Axis joystick to make adjusting your settings easier. The height adjustable stand with height markers and the tilt, swivel, and slant capabilities allow for easy viewing adjustment.
- FOR CRITICAL CREATING: For content creators and game developers who require precise color-critical work, the new Creator Mode feature was designed for you. This OSD menu option allows you the flexibility to choose between the native (DCI-P3) and the sRGB color space, depending on your work needs, and the ability to adjust the gamma settings.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE GUARANTEED: The new Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor comes with improved OLED reliability and a 3-year premium warranty, including coverage for OLED burn-in, for additional peace of mind.
TechSpot’s comparison with the LG 39GX950B-B highlights a meaningful design difference: the Alienware has an RGB-stripe layout and glossy coating, while the LG uses an RGWB layout and matte coating. A glossy finish may suit someone who values its appearance and can control reflections; a matte surface may be preferable in a brighter room. Neither finish is universally better, and room lighting can change which trade-off matters more.
Gaming performance and reported caveats
RTINGS describes the AW3926QW as excellent for PC gaming, citing sharp motion, low input lag, deep blacks, vivid color, and the choice between 5K2K at 165 Hz and 2560 × 1080 at 330 Hz. It also reports distracting VRR flicker when frame rates fluctuate in dark scenes. That is a reviewer-observed limitation to weigh if you play games with dark scenes and variable frame rates, rather than a claim that every user or game will show the same behavior.

- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
PC Gamer discusses early-user reports of green tinting, “vignette dimming,” and adaptive-refresh flicker. Those are reports raised in its review, not evidence that every unit has these issues. They are worth keeping in mind when evaluating panel uniformity and adaptive refresh, but should not be treated as a universal defect or as a substitute for checking the return and warranty terms available where you live.

Quick Recap
- Measure the available desk space and think about how close you sit to a 38.9-inch curved display.
- Check whether your PC can support the games and settings you want at 5120 × 2160, or whether you would often use the reduced-resolution 330 Hz mode.
- Consider whether a glossy screen suits your lighting, and compare it with the LG model’s matte finish if both are available locally.
- Review current regional pricing, stock, return options, and warranty coverage before ordering.
