To hard reset an Alcatel One Touch flip phone, first identify its exact model: the reset steps differ between handsets. A factory reset erases saved data and personal settings, so back up anything you can still access and try a restart first if the phone is responsive.
Before you reset: identify the model and protect your data
“Alcatel One Touch flip phone” does not identify one universal reset procedure. Check the label on the handset or its box. If you can navigate the phone, look in Settings or the About/device information screen for the model number. The steps below apply only to the models named in each section; do not assume another Alcatel flip phone uses the same keys or menu labels.

- Back up any information you can still access. A factory reset erases data and personal settings stored on the phone.
- If the phone is merely frozen or slow, try restarting or power-cycling it before erasing it.
- Keep the handset charged or connected to power while following its reset instructions.
Reset an AT&T Alcatel Smartflip 4052R
If you can open the Settings menu
- From the home screen, press OK to open the apps tray.
- Select Settings, then move to the Device tab.
- Select Device Information, then choose Factory Reset.
- Confirm by selecting Reset.
AT&T says this restores the phone to factory settings and permanently erases personal data, preferences, settings, and content saved on the phone. See AT&T’s Smartflip 4052R reset instructions.

If the Settings menu is inaccessible
- Switch the phone off.
- Hold Power/Back/Hang Up and Volume Up together for about five seconds, until KaiOS Recovery appears.
- Use Volume Down to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then press Power/Back/Hang Up.
- Select Yes and confirm with Power/Back/Hang Up.
- When the recovery screen returns, select Reboot system now and confirm.
Reset an Alcatel MyFlip A405DL that will not start
The MyFlip A405DL manual describes a startup-menu procedure for a phone that will not start. This is a different user journey from the Smartflip 4052R recovery instructions.

- Hold Power and Volume Up together until the startup screen appears.
- Briefly press Power to select the language shown in the menu.
- Briefly press Power to select Factory reset.
The manual warns that this operation erases personal settings and saved data. Consult the Alcatel MyFlip A405DL user manual if the menu wording or behavior differs from these steps.
What if your phone is an Alcatel Go Flip 4044?
A manual mirror for the Go Flip 4044 lists the menu path Settings > Device > Device information > Reset Phone for restoring factory defaults. Because this is secondary-source documentation, check the handset’s own manual or carrier support instructions before proceeding. Do not use the 4052R or A405DL button sequence as a substitute. Restarting is not the same as a factory reset
A restart attempts to get the phone working again without intentionally erasing its contents; a factory reset deletes saved data and settings. On the Smartflip 4052R, AT&T documents a forced restart by holding the power key for 10 seconds when the device is unresponsive. On the MyFlip A405DL, its manual says to hold the Power key for more than eight seconds to attempt a restart. These are model-specific restart instructions, not factory-reset steps.

If the listed steps do not match your handset
- Stop if the model number, key names, or menu options do not match.
- Find the manual or carrier support page for the exact model number printed on your phone.
- If you can still reach Settings, use the model’s documented menu reset rather than experimenting with recovery keys.
- If the model-specific instructions fail, contact the phone’s carrier or manufacturer support before trying another model’s procedure.
